My copy arrived today (from Sainsbury's - a pound cheaper than Amazon, too). I'm just enjoying my first listen. It sounds glorious so far.

Cherish was most definitely recorded by the Association first. It was written by the group's lead singer Terry Kirkman, and their version was released in August 1966. It was number one in America for three weeks in September and October of that year. David Cassidy's version wasn't released until 1972.

Amazon are now quoting £6.97.

It's worth remembering that the fact that other people can't spell Matt's name can be an advantage on eBay.

I always search for all possible spellings of Matt's name, and I've picked up bargains where I've been the only person bidding because the name has been misspelt.

Cyril Ornadel, who co-wrote Portrait of My Love, died on Tuesday, 22 June. He was 86.

Thank you for the explanation, Richard. It worries me slightly that this means that the album will only sell to those of us who are already dyed-in-the-wool Matt Monro fans. This album is Matt's masterpiece, and it might just be possible that it would win him some more fans if it were released by it...
