Re: Clips of Matt
I live in London and regularly go to the Mediatech facility at the BFI South Bank to watch old TV programmes there and have discovered quite a lot of shows on there featuring Matt as a guest singer. Several of these are from The Talk of the Town episodes hosted by Tony Bennett in the early 70s and i...

Re: HARRY .
Dear Lena I'm ashamed to say I have only just read your news of Harry's death. I haven't been able to post much recently due to pressure of work and other things but please accept my sincere condolences on this very sad news. Harry, like yourself, was a dedicated user of this site and contributed ma...

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Robert You got your wish with Yesterday When I Was Young, which Don played Matt singing last night.: progress of a kind. He also played Johnny Mathis 's recording of Then I'll Be Tired of You, which you don't usually hear played, so that's a little bit more encouraging too. In fact Don has played Jo...

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
Three more 70s JM albums are due out on 5 October: The First Time Ever I saw Your Face and Song Sung Blue (both 1972) as a twofer, and Me and Mrs Jones (1973) as a standalone release. I'm very glad Song Sung Blue is coming out as it's one of my favourites from way back and (like the others here) has...

Is it my imagination or does Don Black deliberately choose to play obscure songs b...

Didn't expect to find you listening to the Manics, Karl. What do you think of their new album? It's not bad, in my view, but not their best. International Blue is probably the strongest track on there.

TV Advert - Born Free
There was an advert on ITV last night advertising, I think, baby food or some such thing (it was over quite quickly) and was accompanied by Matt singing Born Free. Presumably it will be on again. Apologies if someone else has already posted about this.

Re: Moira Stuart Show Sundays
Hi Robert
I quite like the different approach of Moira's show: it's good that it isn't a facsimile of Don's. Last night I started to listen to it but then fell asleep and missed virtually the whole programme! I'm going to catch up with it on iplayer.

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
Hi Karl To be honest, Song of Joy is one of the least good performances on that album, in my view: it's stilted and laboured as if he'd got out of bed the wrong side that morning. Pieces of Dreams is ok but nothing like as good as the live studio performances he gave of that song - check them out on...

Re: JOHNNY MATHIS
I see two more of JM's 70s albums are coming out in June: You've Got A Friend (1971) on its own, and Close To You and Love Story (both 1970) as a twofer. I'll certainly be buying You've Got A Friend as it's always been one of my favourite JM albums but has never been on CD; however, most of the bonu...

Moira Stuart Show Sundays
Does anyone listen to this show? Couldn't see a thread for it so decided to create one. It alternates with Don Black's in the 11:00pm to midnight slot on Radio 2. It has a similar format - classic easy listening/crooners/"our kind of music" approach, but, dare I say, perhaps a little bit more sophis...
