Re: Matt's Declining Health

Yes...I too have seen "an evening with Matt Monro"...he does have that something! He just makes you want to hang out with him all night long! It's really astonishing to me that he was nervous or had and doubts about himself...because he is so natural and warm, and just owns the room! I hope that som...

Other famous artists who may have worked with Matt?

Did any famous...or soon-to-be-famous....musicians ever work with Matt when he was on stage? I've heard a rumor that Dudley Moore may have the played piano during one of Matt's live performances. Though I can't substantiate this, it's fun to think about.

Re: There Comes a Point...

Deep stuff Michele! I like it though. As we all get older it's important to focus on what really matters. As we grow wiser we see where we need to spend time and effort...and where we dont. It's very important to get rid of all the negative baggage from the past, we can't change what happened, but w...

Re: Till then my love

One of my favorites! I have played it....and tried to sing it....trying my wife's patience. It does have an effect though, we have some finches and when I sing this song to them...they close their eyes and take a nap! So much for my singing....

Re: Matt Monro: A Singer's Singer

Thank You Robert! I call it like I see it. I was fortunate enough to purchase one of Matt's ties in the recent auction, now I'm just waiting for it to arrive....and waiting...and waiting. I think it's held up in customs right now. It seems that anything coming from overseas into the U.S. takes for e...

Re: Matt Monro: A Singer's Singer

Dear Michele; What a massive compilation! Though I'm not much of a reader...I felt as if I was there...tagging along on all of Matt's trips and adventures. The amount of work and travel Matt did was unbelievable, and at times I felt exhausted just reading about it. I've seen quotes from others in th...

what about the song "a time for love".... Matt goes from one line to another....seamlessly....without breathing! I'm not a musical expert, but I do appreciate the art of knowing when to breath and how to incorporate it into a live performance. Matt is "BEYOND" talented or skilled, he exceeds teachin...

Converting Others to Matt's music....

I'm just a "yank" that's been hooked on Matt's music for several years now. People get into my car (my audi a8 with a great sound system) and after a bit of driving they ask me......"who is this great singer?".....and I answer that it is the immortal Matt Monro! They then ask "who?" I say you know.....

Did Matt have any formal training?

Information is kind of sketchy over here in the U.S. But I have to wonder about Matt's incredible talent - and his flawless delivery. Did he ever attend some sort of school or academy for his craft? It seems that he never makes any mistakes! I'm not trying to find a flaw...I revere him as one of the...

Did Dudley Moore ever play piano for Matt?

I"m not sure where I heard this...but an urban legend states that Dudley played piano for Matt Monro on some of his engagements. Is this true? Did Dudley ever play for Matt?
