I always remember my mum and I listening to Stranger on the Shore together, when I was young. Beautiful piece of music.

Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right

I've been listening to a lot of compilation albums recently, with hits from the 60's. But, at the moment, Craig Douglas' Hits album is in the car. In my set list, i sing three of his songs: Pretty Blue Eyes, When My Little Girl is smiling, and Time.

Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right

How strange that some of us are all listening to Craig Douglas at the same time. I regularly sing Pretty Blue Eyes and When My Little Girl is Smiling in my sets. The old folk I visit in care homes especially like Pretty Blue Eyes as I usually go around the room until I find a lady with blue eyes and...

Re: David Whitfield Statue

Youre right Karl. Too many great artists seem to have been all but fogotten, except by their fans. When I perform, I always make a point of highlighting some of the artists other hits, besides the one that I am going to sing. Of course, knowing a little more in-depth information on stars like Matt a...

RIP Max Bygraves

British comedian and variety performer Max Bygraves has died in Australia, aged 89. The entertainer - whose catchphrase "I wanna tell you a story" propelled him to stardom in the 50s - had been suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. He died peacefully in his sleep at his daughter Christine Green's home...

David Whitfield Statue

After years of talks and set backs, a statue to one of Hull's greatest singer's, David Whitfield, was unveiled in the city yesterday. I've not worked out how to paste a photograph on the message board, so here's the link for anyone who wishes to see and read more. http://www.thisishullandeastriding....

Scott McKenzie

My brother passed on the news that singer Scott McKenzie had passed away on August 18th in Los Angeles, aged 73. He is fondly remembered for the hit San Francisco in 1967. Although I was too young to be a hippy, I loved the song at the time. Maybe I should include it in my set?

Portrait duet

Just wanted to share a lovley moment from a Sheltered Housing gig that I played last night. During my first set, I mentioned the Matt Monro site, the biography, and sang "Softly.....". During the interval, one of the residents brought me one of Matt's CD's to look at, and asked if I ever sang "Portr...

It's been a brilliant Olympics for Team GB, I've had a few tears in my eyes for our wonderful sportsmen and women. Even my 93 year old Aunt made a point of watching Jessica Ennis last night!

Only just caught up on this sad news. I've watched Bargain Hunt for years, and the experts like David all seem so friendly.

Re: Hello out there.

Hi PAUL, Thanks for your kind words. I guess that I sing, mostly, pop hits from the 50's & 60's. Saying that, I can slip into "Strangers in the Night" and "My Way" if requested. The only full length clip of me on You Tube is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9LD8qEFc_c It was taken at this year's B...
