It seems such a shame to pull down all the old landmarks to make way for offices and flats in London. Sorry to hear the Hammersmith Palais is going too.

It is a pity about the Hammersmith Palais Marian and amazingly Russell Davies played "Cruising Down The River" today and mentioned the palais where Lou Preager was not only the resident bandleader all those years ago but also recorded that song.
Russell's theme songs today were all to do with the time of day, Morning, Afternoon and Evening.
Another of his songs today was one of Max Miller's known as "The Cheekie Chappie" singing "Every Sunday Afternoon" (anyone else remember him) I have seen him many times at the Metropolitan Edgware Road.
To think that he was banned once on the BBC for his risque jokes.
When we think of what is allowed today.

Were you adding "Cruising Down the River" as a quiz answer Lena and Harry, as if not, you could do.
I've seen excerpts from Max Miller's old shows on tv but never saw him in person. As you say, in those days some of the things he said were considered very risque, but nothing compared with what today's "comedians" get away with..
