You've all got me thinking. No, I still haven't decided on my tip-top favourite ever one and only track of Matt's. But I couldn't 'alf fancy a fry-up this morning - now can I get round the corner to buy some black pudding to go with it before the kids wake up? But then I'll miss the rest of Sounds of the Sixties...decisions, decisions...

my song
my fav matt song would have to be BEFORE YOU GO i love this song a very sad song make's me cry with the heart felt vocal's and give's me a strange feeling inside
Hello grant and everyone. Coincidence or what, but click onto Matts World of Music, scroll down then click on the subject Matts World of Music, last post Wednesday May 10th. On Matts World of Music it I gave my top 5 MM song's in my first ever posting on the website. I completely agree with your summary of "Before You Go", grant. I love it.
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Hello Mariana44 and everyone. Mariana44, "Before You Go" is on Matts 4 Box Set - The Singer's Singer- on disc 4, which has a lot of rare MM song's on it. Until I bought that 4 disc set, when it came out in 2001,I hadn't heard the song either, but it is so moving and has a lovely melody and Matt sing's it absolutely gloriously. On another page, Paul from the USA said if I can remember correctly, that it sound's in a similar vain to Cilla Black's "Anyone Who Had A Heart", which is a song I like. But I obviously like Before You Go, better.
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Every Matt Monro fan should have the 4 CD set The Singer's Singer (that Robert mentions above) in their collection. It's superb for the liner notes, rare tracks, photos, and my favourite part, the discography, which I've spent long hours studying. It would be a perfect collection, except that "This Is All I Ask" wasn't included.
Every time I'm in London, I still see it in stock (and usually on sale) at the HMVs on Oxford Street and the Trocadero.
(I guess it's personal preference, but I don't like downloading music. I need to hold the CDs in my hand, look at the artwork and packaging, and re-read the liner notes over and over again!)

Hello Paul and everyone. I agree totally with your above sentiment's Paul. Part of the fun is reading all the information (sometimes not a lot) that is contained in the CD cover over and over again, especially the CD's concerning our Matt.

and I agree to with your sentiments, always, always buy original cd or vinyl....... but if I can download a copy of a song before it is available in the shops and listen to it ahead of time all the better for me and I can then spread the word, which in turn can only help an increase in salesROBERT M. wrote:Hello Paul and everyone. Hi all again--I do not really like downloading music---for a start , if you have problems with your cpmputer, and it has to be reformatted, you are like;ly to lose everything--as I know from bitter experience==out of over 2000 tunes on My Itunes I was left with 300--even though I had backed up. I generally download stuff that I cannot get any other way--eg the originals have been deleted, or something that is very hard to get hold of- or maybe just a single track.

Hi Paul, Robert and Dottie and all, we agree that there is nothing like having the complete CDs with information of each track with the vocalists and orchestral arrangers, dates of release, and as you say Paul, the artwork too is what really makes it complete
Having said this we have also been appreciative during searches in finding a great collection of vocalist and songs through downloading and creating some great CDs for listening.
