Who remember's Adam Faith in the popular 70's TV series Budgie with Ian Cuthbertson ?

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: YOUR FAVORITE CD RECORDING (Not Including Matt's)
Yep Eman, eventually I'll have all of Joni's on here.
And this old person fave's your latest Fave, too. Paul Genius Simon. What amazes me is how did he get so darn great on the guitar, never mind the genius composing of both lyrics and melody and beautiful singing/harmony......with those small hands? Should have been impossible -- I've tried in vain to play many of his complex chord runs -- but he proves otherwise. There went my excuse.
He claims he learned (in part) from watching and hearing the Everly Bros, both guitar and harmony.
But then, how did he learn to compose all of those masterpieces?
Love every bit of his great mass of art.

I only remember Adam Faith from this (and I wonder every time I watch it, if some of those backup singers/dancers' heads are going to pop off of their necks), or if they ended up in the hospital for slipped discs:

Was that a good TV series?

Robert and LIndy, the only way I remember Adam Faith was from his music. My Mom has his US first lp on Bell records. I also remember he was the manager in the David Essex movie Stardust and also "That'll Be The Day". Great rock and roll movies.

Another Fave CD:
Prince -- Hits and B Sides Box Set -- Warner Bros - 1993
You can't take the Minnesota country kid out of either of us. He still lives there. Wish I could.
Re: YOUR FAVORITE CD RECORDING (Not Including Matt's)
I don't really like Adam Faith's famous songs like "What Do You Want" and "Poor Me" - they have a very distinctive sound which is late 50s/early 60s - but I do like "Cheryl's Coming HOme" and his version of Barcharach's "Message To Martha". Adam Faith is also the subject of a popular urban myth in that his dying words were supposed to have been "God, Channel 5 shows some rubbish. It's a waste of space". Or something to that effect.
Re: YOUR FAVORITE CD RECORDING (Not Including Matt's)
The later tracks of Adam's you mention showed a more mature Adam but I liked his early hits and the sound he had.
Am excellent 6 cd set "Complete Faith" was released by EMI last year.

City Boy - The Day The Earth Caught Fire - Atlantic/Vertigo 1979. A mini-rock opera in itself, especially the last track on Side 2.
Re: YOUR FAVORITE CD RECORDING (Not Including Matt's)
You are right, Eman, that's a good City Boy CD. I came back a second night for more listening/repetitions.
This topic has kind of gone fallow. I can keep going.

Jon, your reference to "Message to Martha" caught my eye. Hmmm, I wondered, could that be "Message to Michael"?jon wrote:I don't really like Adam Faith's famous songs like "What Do You Want" and "Poor Me" - they have a very distinctive sound which is late 50s/early 60s - but I do like "Cheryl's Coming HOme" and his version of Barcharach's "Message To Martha". And yes, it's the same song. Did you ever hear Dionne Warwick's earlier hit recording, using the original title?
As Eman might say, "I think Dionne's is Ace." (I listened to Adam Faith's too.)

Even better, Dionne sings it live here. No double-tracking or backup singers needed. "Ace!"
