Yes, they were the words for "I Married Joan " Marian, I can't remember any more.

Sunday afternoon was also the spot for Liberace with his signature tune, "I'll Be Seein You". I loved this show too.
Always enjoy looking at the Liberace Museum web-site :)

I'm sure it would be Marian. Christmas time was always very special and every room in his home had a Christmas tree.
One can imagine the glitz and sparkle everywhere. :) :)

I cannot believe we have not had this yet-but I do not remember seeing it--heard it while walking the dogs today---

"THEME FROM VAN DE VALK"----"AND YOU SMILED" sung by our Matt, of course.

Theme tune from "FreeWheelers", a late 60s/early 70s kids' TV programme which starred Ronald Leigh-Hunt and Wendy Padbury. Also, theme song to "Ace of Wands", again an early 70s' kids' show about a guy with magical powers (the theme song is rather good).

Off all the Tony Hatch theme tunes you've mentioned, you've not mentioned the best one 'THE CHAMPIONS'! A wonderful swirling melody with a great tempo and a real 60s go-go feel to it

While we are on that theme how about 'The Man from Uncle' - Open channel D!

Dr Kildare? I remember that only because they re-ran it in the early 1980s

I loved the Laverne & Shirley theme tune too Paul! I have it on my I-pod

Gray - you mentioned 'Thunderbirds', by how about the closing theme from 'Fireball XL-5' - 'I wish I was a space man......' or the JOE 90 theme.

I also loved the 'UFO' theme tune, accompanied by flashing lights, space ships, submarines, spinning computer tape reels, explosions and women in purple wigs! All timed to perfection to climax with the explosion of a UFO

And finally, Gerry Andersons biggest and best production (certainly his most expensive!) with the most majestic theme tune, Space 1999.

OOh - comedies now!

Gray - again you mentioned Rhoda - how about 'Mary Tyler Moore' - 'You're going to make it after all!!' - I remember the opening sequence with MTM throwing her hat in the air!

Jon - I can't believe you mentioned Terry & June lol - I bet it was another Ronnie Haslehurst production along with the 'Two Ronnies', as well as 'Morecombe & Wise'. You heard those tunes and just knew it was going to be a great show!

I also loved the 'Man about the House' theme, that was called 'Thoroughly Modern'. When I worked at Harrods, it was on our piped music system they used to play to test the tannoy system before we opened! I think that I used to like the 'George & Mildred' theme as well

And how about 'Lovejoy' - a real galloping theme in a very English style

Or 'To the Manor born' - which I think is the same as 'Yes Minister!'

Back to the US - I loved the theme tune to 'Mork & Mindy' back in the 70s, the Waltons, Dallas and best of all Dynasty!! Jon - I once met a guy who was an expert on Knots Landing theme tunes - apparently there were 3 different versions and he knew which seasons they applied to. I didn't speak much more to him after he shared that information with me

Of course, I should also name the theme tune that sends a thrill down my spine every May..... Te Deum, played at the start of the Eurovision!

Surely Harrods should have played the 'Are you being served music, I used to like that. But gosh, there are so many that bring back memories. The earliest for me is the Greyfriars theme or was it called Billy Bunter. I remember it playing when there was a fire engine putting out a chimney fire two doors away when I was about 4 years old. Then there are themes like 'Department S', 'Harry Worth' and good old 'Hawaii 5-O. All those Mike Post themes too were brilliant, such as Rockford and Hill Street Blues. It's amazing how hearing them can take you back in time.

PS - Tony Christies 'Avenues & Alleyways' was the theme to another Gerry Anderson production 'The Protectors'. The 'Persuaders' had an instrumental theme.

You've mentioned the theme to 'Murder she wrote', but how about the Miss Marple themes from the 1980s BBC TV series?

And on the subject of Miss Marple, the MGM film series featuring Margaret Rutherford in the role had a very distinctive 1960s pop theme. I think it was called 'Murder at the Gallop' and had the sound of the John Barry about it!

I think you guys watched FAR too much TV...
Seriously...this is great fun , remembering all those old shows.
There is a web site called "TVTUNES.com" , and on that site there is a bewildering array of
TV theme sound bytes from every imaginable TV show you'd care to name.
What about The Avengers...?? (Laurie Johnson - composer).
The original studio version of John Barry's "The Persuaders" can be found on the TVTUNES site.
Put on a pair of headphones and crank the volume up..it will blow you into next week.
The combination of Moog synthesizer and Colomban (dulcimer) is pure Barry magic.
