hpooch wrote:Eman, I think the LP title "Bing With A Beat" was recorded with the Bob Scobey Frisco Jazz Band way back when I was in College back in the 1950s. I think I have a cassette tape of it in my collection & it is a rarity but if you
like Dixieland jazz it is really good. I have seen Bob Scobey in person back then & have some of his early recordings.
Clancy Haye played Banjo & did the vocals.....Please clean it up for sure, & if don't like it, I'll buy it from you!
Hey Henry, just got back from Mass and I saw your post. I have it soaking in a tub of distilled water and a little dawn dishwashing soap, to get all the years of caked up dust and grime off the record. Of course I made sure that the labels were well covered. I'll let you know the condition of it when it's finally cleaned and what I think of it. Right now the record doesn't look promising as I see a few little rough scratches that might make it skip.

My Mom has that album and I actually like it. It has a lot of songs written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed who wrote songs for The Detroit Spinners (Spinners in the US) and Stylistics. In fact did you know the title song was on a Spinners album called "Mighty Love" and was more up beat? Love Mathis' version the best!!

Eman,
Sounds like you've got something wonderful there, "Bing with a Beat". I hope to hear more from you on this one.

Tusk, Fleetwood Mac, Warner Bros (I like Lindsey's 1987 remastered masterpiece best)

Eman, if you google "Bob Scobey+Bing Crosby" it will bring up "Bing With a Beat"(RCA-LP) and give you the song list.
Also there are some songs from the LP on "You Tube" so you can hear the songs before you deep clean the LP.

And I just went to Amazon.com & "Bing With A Beat" is available on a reissued CD (with all 12 song samples & 5 star reviews)
While you're there, check out "Bob Scobey with Clancy Hayes" reissued CDs.....They played the best "West Coast Jazz" anywhere!
Late News - I also discovered that amazon.com/uk has the Crosby CD titled "Bing with a Swing" with 12 additional songs & less costly!!
Amazon.com/uk has many Bob Scobey CDs for lower prices than the U.S., on the Jasmine Label which is a U.K. recording co.

Cool Henry, I'll check it out..record still needs a good day to soak in this sollution. Can you imagine it was one of the first records my dad ever bought in his life shortly after he moved my Mom and two sisters to the US because of his military duties. I believe their first "stereo" was an RCA combination with a tv. I'll check out the info later. Thanks Henry.

Thanks John. Goodness, I never even thought to look for solo recordings from Justin Hayward. Very interested and will look into this! :)

Avalon, Roxy Music, Virgin Records (1980 or 82, but remastered since then) Has to be the most beautiful start to finish CD of the 80s.
