The "What Song Does That Line Comes From" Game
Hi Paul and all. I think I have got it. The Beatles "All My Loving". I will give some more lyric's, as I am assuming I am correct, let me know if I am wrong Paul.
"For all she did for me". Quite hard, but if you look at the clue in the lyric you will get it easily.

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

You are partially right Robert! It's the Matt Monro "All My Loving". That's what I listened to this morning. And I actually like it equally to the Beatles excellent version. (Now Yesterday is no question. Matt Monro's version is the best and 100 times better that the Beatles dirge.)
I know your newly submitted lyric. This is the first time I've guessed on one line! But I heard Matt Monro sing that powerful line in my head and a few minutes later knew the song. It is "For Mama".
Here's my new lyric (which I also listened to this morning):
"When you're close, so close to me"

Hello Mariana44, Paul and everyone. Mariana44 your old photo is back with us, what's going on.
Just edited this post to say your "new" photo is now up, looks good. You do look younger.
Paul I do know your latest lyric's but I can't quite put my finger on the song at the moment. Also Paul, I knew it was Matts version of "All My Loving" you were listening to, but I said The Beatles, as they wrote the song.
Well done Paul for getting "For Mama" so quickly. You are getting the hang of it now, arn't you. Do you know that Paul McCartney did not like Matts version of "Yesterday",as he thought Matt had ruined the song. But I obviously agree with your verdict of the song Paul. I wonder if Paul McCartney likes Matts version nowaday's.

Hello all again. I am back as I think I now know the song title Paul. Poor Mariana44, it's not the one you put forward.
I will not put any more lyric's up until I have confirmation from Paul. But I believe the song is from the musical The King And I, another gorgeous ballad from Matt "I Have Dreamed".

You are correct, Robert, it's from I Have Dreamed -- what an outstanding arrangement and vocal from Matt Monro. Singing just can't get much better than that.
Also, I never heard that Paul McCartney didn't like Matt's Yesterday. He would probably like his version today.
Marian -- Your guess was close, as I listened to The Nearness Of You yesterday morning, so I was considering submitting a lyric from that song. Glad your cheerful photo is back!
Robert - it's now your turn to submit a lyric.

Hello Paul, Mariana44 and all. New lyric time, at last you say, been watching That's Entertainment DVD. The first line of the lyric is "If there's a chance for me". This one is a lot easier, but I have more word's to give if no one get's it first time.

Just curious if anyone has heard Bea Wain's version of I Get Along Without You Very Well. I believe she recorded it in the 1930s with the Larry Clinton Orchestra (one of my favourite big bands). But she may have recorded it in the 1940s after she left Larry Clinton's band. I love her style. It's straight-forward and full voice, but still full of emotion. You hear this in I Get Along... . Her recording with the Larry Clinton Orchestra of My Reverie is one of my favourite songs ever. If you haven't heard her voice, I highly recommend you check her out.
Along with her husband, conductor Andre Baruch, they hosted "Your Hit Parade" (our version of Top Of The Pops) in the 1940s and 1950s. She lives in Los Angeles and is very active with my favourite charity (Society Of Singers) that assists singers in need and offers scholarships to young vocalists.
