Marian - I can't believe that JM and Deniece Williams recorded the same Heaven Must Have Sent You as Bonnie Pointer. Mine is an uptempo song that Bonnie Pointer recorded as both a soul version and disco version. If they did, I really don't want to hear it. It belongs to Bonnie Pointer.
Perhaps you are referring to the song Your Precious Love, which contains the lyric "heaven must have sent you from above". Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell made it so famous.
Also, I cannot accept Cheek To Cheek or your horizon and sky songs, but good try!
Robert - I thought you'd give Bonnie a chance to submit the Meatloaf song. I was expecting a different heaven song from you---a great pop song from the 1980s!
Gray - Well done, you got the spelling correct and you submitted a soul/R & B/dance song! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who loves soul music in the forum.
Here's a nice, fairly unknown dance song from Gloria Estefan:

Hi Paul--I can assure you that the duet by Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams is called "Heaven must have sent you"---next words "from above".
It is on their duet album "Thats what friends are for"--nowhere near my favourite track on that album.
I have never heard of Bonnie Pointer--unless she is one of the Pointer Sisters.
I did not think I would get away with "Cheek to cheek" or "Horizon " or "Sky"---but I was desperate.
I promise to keep to the rules of the game in future

How about 'Feels Like Heaven' - by The Fiction Factory.
Paul - I love soul music!!!
Marvin Gaye: I adore.
I told you what a big fan I was of The Temps & The Four Tops, and do you know a song called 'My Whole World Ended' by David Ruffin.
Top 10 US chart hit, around 1969'ish, didn't do anything over here.
That song is in my all time top three songs ever.
Absolutely stunning vocal performance on that tune.
So you are not alone! I'm right with you Soul Man!

Sorry, grandpajan, but heaven isn't in the title of that song. So Twilight Time doesn't count.
Marian - I found a music clip of the JM and Deniece Williams's duet album on HMV's website. The song is listed as Heaven Must Have Sent You. But this song is actually Your Precious Love. It takes some real nerve for JM and DW to change the title of that song which belongs to Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell and should never have been remade.
So because of this major JM error, you do get credit for your "heaven" submission.
Aren't these games fun!
Bonnie Pointer was a member of the Pointer Sisters, but left the group in 1977 to pursue a solo career. Bonnie Pointer's Heaven Must Have Sent You was a remake of a song by the Elgins which hit #3 on the UK charts in May 1971. I have never heard this original version, as it wasn't a hit in the US. I think I'll e-mail Ken Bruce and suggest he play it, as he loves to play soul music from the 1960s and 1970s.
One can find out about so much music through this Matt Monro forum!

Hey Soulman Gray -- I'm very sorry, I had almost forgotten about your love of the Four Tops and Levi Stubbs' singing. Somehow, I haven't been able to get your favourable comments on Lyin' Eyes out of my head. And Ken Bruce played it the other day as the long song after Popmaster. I fast-forwarded 5 minutes and it was still playing.
So I removed my headphones for the remaining torturous minute. And now you've submitted Tears In Heaven, one of my other most disliked songs! Like Lyin' Eyes and I Don't Want To Miss A Thing, those dreadful songs never end!
You've stumped me with the Fiction Family.
Yes, that is a great David Ruffin song (what a voice!), but it's seldom heard on US radios anymore. There are so many great songs from that period. And I know Marian from Kent also loves Motown music. And many on the forum like the Detroit Spinners, Sylistics, and Earth Wind & Fire. Probably what I meant is that I could be the only person who loves the more obscure soul and R & B music from the 1970s and 1980s. I'm mad that I forgot to get a greatest hits compilation of the Detroit Emeralds; I love it when Ken Bruce plays Feel The Need In Me. More shopping for my next trip to London, as Tower Records is closing at Christmas. I'll never find the Detroit Emeralds anywhere but HMV and Virgin.

Paul, the group is Fiction Factory not Family
what is that great pop song from the 80's, the only song from that era I can remember at the moment is "Heaven Is a Place On Earth" by Belinda Carlisle, is that the one
L&H seem to have got into "heavy metal" now, by the sound of things

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

You are correct Robert! It's Belinda Carlisle's song. It's not one of my favourite songs, but it certainly defined the sound of the 1980s.
I guess I was so surprised about Lena and Harry's nomination of Stairway To Heaven, that it didn't even register in my brain.
It's definitely one of the most overrated tracks of the rock era.
Okay, after correcting everyone about their heaven song titles, I got the wrong group name.
So, who or what is Fiction Factory?

Oh Robert--I was just ready to put "Heaven is a place on earth"--and you beat me to it---yes it was Belinda Carlisle !
Thanks Paul for the information re that song "Heaven Must have sent you"--obviously I had no idea this was not the correct name---thanks for allowing it.
Would I be cheeky if I relisted it in the "Love" game
