6. AT LONG LAST LOVE (Karl, you would have to be 15 years older than you are.... As she sang with Larry Clinton in the Late 30s & went solo in the 40s)

It doesn't always follow, as Paul is much younger than many members on the forum.
Henry's answer should have been number 9.

I have never heard of her either but then I had never heard of Martha Tilton or Margaret Whiting until I got 'educated' by you guys.
Now I love them both and listening to Bea Wain and the Larry Clinton Orchestra I am liking them too.
Next is number 10.

Well Paul not hearing of Jackie Trent is your misfortune, you know she wrote many of Petula Clark's huge hits along with her ex husband Tony Hatch. Her music has also been recorded by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Scott Walker and loads of others, she also worked with Sammy Davis and has a beautiful picture of the two of them in her house.
I would be more than happy to burn a cd for you to help furrther educate your musical palate.
And Marian, Paul is not THAT young! I think we have some younger members. I also think Henry must be one of our most senior members and I mean no disrespect but he told us last year what age he is reaching this year.

I think there may be quite a few people who think that Jackie Trent and Tony Hatch were primarily composers--whereas we know that Jackie in particular did quite a lot of recording, and has a very distinctive voice.
I do not know what Paul would think of you saying he is not THAT young--he is certainly not a teenager, and there may be a few members younger than he is, but he is a good few years younger than many of us on here--even though he does know a lot about singers and music from way back.

Well Marian there is nothing we can do about growing older. Paul's hair is greying (from his pic) but then I ihad a friend who went grey in his 20's. However I am sure Paul is a respectable mature age!
My dentist has been grey since he took over the practice and has young face, he reminds me of Bill Clinton.

Sandra: so glad you're listening to Larry Clinton and Bea Wain. Her vocal style was a bit different from other big band singers. I loved her phrasing and constantants.
Karl: thanks for the info on Jackie Trent. I didn't know she was a songwriter or married to Tony Hatch. I will need to find out what Petula songs she wrote and if I know them. And you're right, I'm not that young anymore; in the US we are known as "active adults". And as everyone knows, I like a wide range of music from the 1930s to the new releases on Radio 1.

My last to LA our local tour guide told us they have recyled teenagers which I think is a brilliant descrption.
Paul I don't think my musical tastes go as far back as the 30's but I like some 40's and definitely from the 50's upwards. But my heart will always favour those fantastic Sounds Of The 60's !

Re: Singers or Groups and your favourite songs by them
Paul, I am sure you will know the songs that Jackie and Tony wrote for Petula--the big one "downtown" of course "Don't sleep in the subway"--loads more--they were very prolific, and certainly knew how to write a catchy tune.
