Well I don't believe It,...today I received my issue of the " Yours " magazine and inside is an article SAVE OUR SWEETS. and how the manufacturers have caused protests from traditional sweet lovers. For instance the tongue-tingling Sherbert Fountain Dabs in carboard tubes for 84 yearshave been replaced with re-sealable plastic ones.
The Five flavoured Fry's chocolate bar ( Marians addition today along with Smarties. Opal Fruits.. the list is endless.
The internet is flooded with people who are so passionate about sweets and chocolate.
but I did get a few more tips about past and forgotten products too.
Just thought i'd mention this article.....is this co-incidental. ???  or has someone been peeking on our forum .   :) :)

Oh yes, I remember Raspberry Ruffles Lena! Isn't it funny where these memories hide and then pop back into mind as soon as something jogs your memory.
Can we put CANDY FLOSS into the sweet category :? I believe it now has to be sold in bags in case some child pokes the stick in their eye!!!

Found this on line about FUDGE..
"The origins of fudge remain unclear or at least inexact. It's fair to say though that it appears to come into commonly accepted term for a "soft toffee type sweet" in the early half of the nineteenth century. Folklore tells us that the name came into being after a young American girl, whilst making her first attempt at toffee undercooked it and on removing it from the oven declared "Oh! Fudge!", a commonly used mild expletive in those far of days! Either way the name seems to have stuck and we've been enjoying the stuff ever since. Rich, soft and deliciously chewy, this confection comes to us in a wide selection of flavours of which everyone has a favourite."
