YOUR FAVORITE CD RECORDING (Not Including Matt's)
Re: YOUR FAVORITE CD RECORDING (Not Including Matt's)
Nice one Lindy!!
The Byrds - The Notorious Byrd Brothers - Columbia -1968 . One of the best Byrds album ever which includes the massive hit "Goin Back" which was written for them. This song actually made David Crosby quit. The song was covered fairly well by others and most recently by Phil Collins. Another standout track was "I Was Not Born To Follow" another Goffin/King song. This song was used in the movie "Easy Rider". It was also covered by The Lemon Pipers who did a very cool cover, but some others who did the song well, nuff said, except they lacked the hippie ethos of the song. Finally a really moving song on the album was "Draft Morning" a statement about being drafted into the military and the horrors of war. My Dad even likes this album, he says it's an alright album for a bunch of hippies...ha ha...the generation gap at it's best!!
Hey Paul, where are you? Chime in on this and let us know what your take is.

THE HOTTEST BAND IN TOWN-VOL 1&2 - Judith Durham - Reissued CD just released on Decca - Recorded in San Francisco 1973 & London 1974
Karl & Lindy, Trini Lopez(in his 60s) appeared in S.F. last month for a 3 night live show & some friends saw him & told me he still has the "Sing-a-Long" audience approach.

Don, ace choice. It's a shame that album "Romance" wasn't released here in the US. I had to get mine from overseas, Germany to be exact! LOL

I hope you've heard his recording of Chaplin's "Smile". I rely on it often.

Songs for Swingin' Sellers, Hallmark Netherlands, 2010 (or the vinyl if you're lucky enough to have it!)
Yay! I managed to get Matt onto our "Favorite CD Recording (Not Including Matt's)" list!
And I lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve Peter Sellers, to boot! My favorite non-Matt number on this is "So Little Time" about the former horse trainer who now manages rock and roll "singers".
It's all of it, the whole CD, splendidly Sellers.
