13 LAURA FYGI

13 EARLIEST CHILDHHOD MEMORIES

I was nearly 3 years old, and my sister was due to be born at home. All I remember of the great event, was my and my elder brother being ushered into the spare room with a tube of fruit gums each.

I can recall nothing else.

2. I think one of my earlies memories really is my first day at primary school when I was four and howling my head off when my Mum left me for the first time. That has always stuck in my mind, but I guess everyone will remember their first day at school.

3. That was one of mine too John. We started school at 3 years old in Wales and I was quite happily taken to my first class along with my friend who lived next door to me. It was a different story when they realised I was almost 4, at the end of the following month, and I remember being hauled, crying bitterly, away from my friend into the second class! :(

4. When I was 4 years old, I accidently fell into a water tank on my Grandmother's farm and nearly drowned. I was rescued, but since then
I have always had a fear of drowning. When I am in a swimming pool, my feet have to touch the bottom or I panic!!

5. One of my earliest memories. A heavy storm was expected and our next door neighbour called up to our window to my mother to come in if it got bad, which seemed to be the norm in those circumstances. Us kids, me being the youngest, trooped into her FRONT ROOM as it was known then but hardly ever used, and her brother played the piano to keep us kids occupied while my mum and our neighbour stayed in the kitchen having a cup of tea, I remember wanting to go into the kitchen but being stopped from doing so.
We knew our place in those days. :D :D :D

6 I am loving your memories.

Henry reminded me of another one, again concerning my sister.
We were on holiday-I was about 5, she was just 2, and we were walking round the edge of a paddling pool on the beach ! Next minute Carole was in the water, and I remember looking down at her, and thinking-"I did not know Carole could swim " !! Next second, my dad came flying down, from where they were sitting and pulled her out--she was not swimming-but nearly drowning !!

7. Sitting on the back step of our house and doing my first jigsaw puzzle that my Dad brought me.

I suppose I would be 4 or 5 and it was a wooden jigsaw of a train in the station.

I did that jigsaw puzzle so many times and can still see the picture now.

Incidentally I still love doing puzzles to this day although have advanced slightly.

My sister brought me a 1000 piecer of Michelangelos ceiling in the Sistine Chapel.

Could take me all winter to finish

On our first family holiday to Butlins in the 60's, two thing's I will alway's remember ...........firstly at breakfast time a song "Good Morning" .........not the one from Singin' In the Rain, was played over the tannoy every morning (I ended up buying the record of it for 5 shillings from Butlins while there), and secondly having Smoked Bacon with breakfast every morning...........I loved it :)

I'm cheating here, but I will give #9 also

9. Also in the 60's when I was a young boy, I went with my best friend to visit his relations in Birmingham. They were devout Catholics and every time I had a cup of tea, his relations alway's put a spoonful of Brandy in each cup of tea...........for medicinal purposes

10. Speaking of libations, when I was 12 my parents allowed me to have a glass of red wine (diluted with 1/2 water)for the first time.
Needless to say after 2 glasses I fell asleep and did not wake up till the next morning. They say 1 or 2 glasses of red wine daily
is good for your health!
