Well we did kind of spot the words that were part of the song   but Robert was lost for words, shock: so we remained schtumm,

Anyway here's a clue to the verse.... Irving Berlin wrote this song in memory of his first wife.
Recorded by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Jim Reeves, The Mills Brothers.

Thanks for a great clue, Lena and Harry. The song is When I Lost You. Even the song title is in the opening lyric!

Here's an opening lyric especially for Michael and Terence, as one of their favourite singers recorded it.

I don't know why they redesigned me
He likes the way he used to find me
He likes the girl I left behind me
I mean he ... I mean me ...

Hi Paul

It's "What Did I Have That I Don't Have?" from On A Clear Day You Can See Forever.......sung in the movie by Barbra Streisand but interpreted in a magnificent way by Liza Minnelli in her recent live concerts.

How about this one?

I don't need your photograph to keep by my bed
Your picture is always in my head
I don't need your portrait dear to call you to mind
For sleeping or waking dear I find

I hold you responsible, I'll take it to law
I never have felt like this before
I'm sueing for damages, excuses won't do
I'll only be satisfied with you

I knew you would know What Did I Have That I Don't Have, Terence. I'm sure Michael will know it also. I've only heard the song sung by Eydie Gorme, who also sings it magnificently!

I've never heard your new opening lyric.

Hi Terence and Paul, we didn't know the last verse, and Terence, what a great number you've chosen, we had completely forgotten this one.
"The Very Thought Of You"

This should be a fairly easy one.
You came along
Life was a song.
I've laid awake the whole night through.
If ever I dared.
To Think that you cared.
This is what I'd say to you....

Just as i was finishing typing the last posting Angel Radio are playing "The very thought of you".
This morning while listening to String Of Pearls, I was talking about play G H Elliott, an old stage artist and Dewi spoke about him.
Any one else have similar co-incidences ??? :)

Hi all--the last song was "You were meant for me"--I can just recall the Gene Kelly version at the moment--I will get back shortly with another one.

Ok, here we are---this is quite an easy one--just unseasonable--but it was the only one I could think of at the moment.

Never saw you look quite so pretty before
Never saw you dress quite so handsome - what's more

Ah we recognise the "Easter Parade" Marian.
Here's another ...

When the only sound in the empty street.
Is the heavy tread of the heavy feet
That belonged to a lonesome cop.
She opens shop, when the moon so long
Has been gazing down on the wayward ways
Of this wayward town
Then her smile becomes a smirk
She goes to work.

Yes L&H I don't know that one, surprise surprise. But a coincidence is that I am listening to String of Pearls on the "listen again" feature right now, which is mainly commemorating "Remembrance Sunday" 8)
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

There have been a lot of nostalgia on Radio programmes today Robert.
As you know Dewi finished his programme appropriately with Ivor Novello's "Keep The Home Fires Burning," and Angel Radio had their own tribute and played the last post at 11o'clock, and Eric Hall played some great oldies, had Chris White on his show who incidently is on the Alma Cogan show at 8o'clock this evening, which is a repeat of Friday nights show. :)

It is 3.45am and my mind is not working. Perhaps Marian, Paul or Robert can stand in for me?

If they are not available, how about another one from Lena & Harry?
I must go to bed now.......zzzzz
