New Game--Your Tip-Top number 1 "Matt Track"
All I can say is that there are some serious music fans on this website. I thought that no one loved music more than me, but now I'm not sure!
I'm not very computer literate, so I don't know how to download music, don't have an ipod, and have never made a CD copy. But I was one of the first persons to have a CD player back around 1983! So I will have to rely on my purchased CDs.
Now, can I submit another tip-top Matt Monro track for this week? (Just kidding, Robert!)

Paul---we all love music on this site, maybe not more than you, but as much as. As long as you enjoy your cds as they are, that is fine.
But downloading, and copying cd's are straightforward--as long as you have the recording drives and recording software. Give it a go , sometime. If you get stuck. we are always here to help!!
I have to say that I love my IPOd, because it is so versatile--will sort the music for you however you want it to---just 1 singer maybe--or songs from musicals--or something you have not heard for ages.

It can, and has, opened up a new world and vastly extended our music library, if that really was possible. Technology is wonderful.![]()
Hi Lena and Harry-I totally agree-technology is great. I do not know if like me you are self taught---but you certainly learn by your mistakes doing it that way.
I bought my first computer after I left work, having never even used as much as a typewriter before! When they delivered the computer it sat in boxes in my spare room for 2 weeks while I read and reread the instructions.
Then I put it all together. ...
It was another 2 weeks before I dared to switch on, in case I could not switch off again!!
I am now on my 4th computer, and cannot imagine being without one.

Marian, we were the same and didn't know the first thing about computers, but were graduall beginning to feel that we weren't part of this planet, so I (Lena ) bravely booked a course.
We would always recommend though that having access (preferably your own) to a computor is an advantage when taking a course, to practise in your own time. We didn't have a PC then and confess that the course died a slow death. We purchased a PC after having bought books and video's on the subject of setting it up e.t.c. and so mission accomplished by Harry who's also generally able to sort out all the frustrated problems that arise (not me)
but we agree Marian what would we do with it now

Hi Lena and Harry-I must admit, having gone through it all myself, I really admire anyone who can get themselves sorted out and started on a computer.
But the only depressing thing is that the children of today, seem to be born knowing what to do with a computer and all the other gadgets that are around now.
I remember when I was young and at school, even a calculator seemed very high-tech--and way out of my league.

Marian, this is so true today, children are brought up from infancy on computers at school. Also in our local post office where they have about Fifteen computors installed and which are generally occupied by young people, I am amazed at the speed of those fingers, and the combined headphone and web-cams in operation. Neither of us had ever learned to use a typewriter either Marion. Well!! we're learning now.

Hi Lena and Harry---we have 6 computers installed in our library--but as it is a very small library, they take up a lot of the space, but apparently they have to do that now. They are always busy, and sometimes on Monday, there is a free 10 week beginners course, which would have been useful to me, if it was around at the time I was learning.
Have you learnt to type properly yet--I have tried with several software "Learn to Type" but got nowhere--basically, it needs a lot of practice, and I did not have the time--still don't. So I still manage with just the one finger

Yes, same here Marian, the left hand is generally used just for changing Capitals.
A relative of ours has recently purchased her first PC. She is also retired and was a typist, but insists it's just practice with the correct fingers of each hand corresponding to the correct lettered keys.
OH YEAH. Ive tried this and my fingers get in the way

Hi Lena and Harry, Mariana44 and everyone. How come, if your so slow at typing you have a combined posting of over 600, you should still be on your first couple of post's each, shouldn't you.
By the way, I type the same way.

By the way, I type the same way.

Hi Robert, we forgot to say that we're typing with the nuckle of our index finger now.
Anyway there was a record out many years ago called the typewriter "we think" with the sound of the keys set to music and then a soundlike a bell that indicated it was at the end of the line and beginning a new line. Anyone else remember this??
Robert, we bet that's how you type, cos you haven't let on yet.
