My favourite Harry Chapin song is WOLD. I loved that song when it was popular and still do. It was long and it seemed to go on and on. I loved that about it. Really loved that middle slow part and then the background singers singing W O L D as the tempo picked up.

Big John sang most of the backgrounds. Did you ever see Harry in concert? He was wonderful. Not the greatest singer in the world but a great performer and the first star to be interested in world hunger

I had forgotten about Big John. Who was he anyway?

I never saw Harry Chapin in concert, because I was a bit too young to go to concerts at that time.

Big John Wallace was one of the original band members. He played bass guitar, beside him there was always a cello player( there were 2 or 3 over the years) a drummer by the name of Howie Fields and another guitar player Ron Scott. those are all the members I can remember, in addition his brothers Steve and Tom were with him from time to time. I am sorry you never got to see him in concert, he was fun.

Oh yes, I remember the celloists. Very interesting set up.

The following fabulous singers are back after a 17 year break. This is a gorgeous song:

On one of my dvds I have Johnny Mathis singing a duet with Larry Gatlin called---Oh, I forget--something about "All the gold in California".

That was their biggest hit: All The Gold In California. It's not my favourite by them.

I hope all of you try to find I've Done Enough Dyin' Today. It's not country-sounding.

HI Paul-yes I agree about that song-it is more of a novelty song--or quite a good sing along song. this is my favourite Larry Gatlin song which JM also duets with Larry on, and it was a big concert favourite from JM--and I am pretty sure it was never released on Cd-

LARRY GATLIN ..TRY TO WIN A FRIEND .

It is a lovely song-- I actually have a funny story about it.

The Gatlin Brothers did a remake of an old Andrews sisters song and I LOVE it, the song is - May You Always.
I saw the Gatlin's in concert about 8 years ago, Larry was very nice as was Rudy, Steve on the other hand was rude.
