I don't understand the love for Jim Reeves on this forum. Perhaps I haven't heard enough, but I never detected any emotion. For country singers with beautiful voices, I'd nominate Ray Price, Jody Miller, and Marty Robbins.

Here's a CD on my wish list, but I doubt I'll be getting it soon as it's $80 on amazon.

Hi Paul, for me it's just a personal preference. I guess it has to do with growing up hearing Jim Reeves around the house all the time as my Dad played his albums. So in essence it's something that's like a comforting childhood memory. Though I didn't like all of his songs like "Blue Boy" or "Wishful Thinking".

Tower of Power - Bump City - Warner Bros. 1974. These guys were one and still are the tightest horn sections ever!! Doc Krupka plays the "baddest" and "funkiest" sax ever!!

I was never a huge Jim Reeves fan but I always enjoyed him singing Distant Drums, Jim had a very rich friendly voice and he sings this song with just the right amount of emotion. Perhaps you don't feel much emotion yourself Paul especially with the tendency you have to dismiss other people's likes other than Matt?
