Herb Alpert and The TJB - What Now My Love - A&M 1966. Another of Dad's favourites
Re: YOUR FAVORITE CD RECORDING (Not Including Matt's)
Yeah, Eman!
Herb and TJB! Everything they did, love it all.
I agree with yours and I add this one, because it featured the surprise SINGING of Herb, which became a #1 hit if I remember correctly. He wasn't Matt, but wow did he make a lot of us swoon with "This Guy's In Love". I like everything on this one, it's a wonderfully happy set. "Monday, Monday" on this can actually help you go to work on a Monday morning, it's not grim like the Mama's and Papa's version (but I like them too!).
Beat of the Brass, remastered in 2005 on Shout Factory.
I have this one.
The LP was out in 68, and we had that one too, my sister and me.

Re: YOUR FAVORITE CD RECORDING (Not Including Matt's)
Lindy, My Dad has all of them. I guess they survived "Typhoon Eman" as my Dad said when I was born, most of his records got wiped out (Robert Goulet, Some Perry Como, Ray Conniff etc) and got replaced by weird long haired people as he called them..LOL My Dad is so square!!
City Boy - Book Early - Mercury/Vertigo - 1978 - This is the Manchester bands breaktrhough lp with the hit song "5705". The phone number pre-dates Tommy Tutone's - Jenny (867-5309). LOL

Re: YOUR FAVORITE CD RECORDING (Not Including Matt's)
THanks Eman,
I will try to hear some of this one. I don't know them at all. I know that's where Morrissey's from though.
Can somebody please explain to me why people from Manchester are called "Mancusians"? Is that from Roman times, er wot?
While I'm at it, before time to sleep, here's one more I know that YOU like:
The Smiths, "Strangeways Here We Come"! Can't recall the label, but I know YOU know it, Eman,
That was my first Smiths CD, and I still love it. Wait a minute...did I already post this one? HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
Happy Friday Eman and Everybody!

Hi Lindy
I'm also a big Smiths fan; my favourite Smiths song is "Bigmouth Strikes Again". Peopel from Manchester are called "Mancunians", don't knw why, but I have several friends who are from Manchester so I'll ask them. I'm not very familiar with Morrissey's solo career, though - sometimes his work is a bit TOO political, which is not what I want to hear when I listen to music.

Sorry, I realise I've spelt "people" wrongly - too early in the morning!
Re: YOUR FAVORITE CD RECORDING (Not Including Matt's)
Manchester people are called Mancunians for the same reaon people from Boston are called Bostonians and the citizens of Glasgow are Glaswegians, London folk are Londoners etc; etc:

Bigmouth is a fabulous song. I love the Joan of Arc reference. That song is maybe the best "duet" between Johnny's exquisite liquid guitar and Morrissey's luxurious vocals. I wouldn't be surprised to read that Morrissey learned to sing by listening to Matt's records. But no doubt you and Eman know who Morrissey's early influences were?
"Mancun" sounds to me like an ancient form of what became "Manchester". Just Curious. And Curiouser. Ah, now I have to listen to THAT one again!
