I'm sure there must be a quiz here somewhere. Seeing how many famous people we can find with the same surname!

I am using a song that I have used before--but with different famous names---

it is Michael Fenstein's version of "How about You"--in it he mentions

"And Franklin Roosevelts looks, give me a thrill"

then later

"I love Jack Benny's jokes"

I just heard this song yesterday, by Mike Batt, called "I feel Like Buddy Holly"
with the line

I feel like Buddy Holly 'cause it's Raining In My Heart

And also mentions Paul Mccartney and Paul Simon.

I have a feeling there is another song, with Buddy Holly, Big Bopper etc in
the lyrics--not "American Pie" but another one.

Whats in name

Post by deanvale46 » Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:29 am

Ok Had to think a bit for this one,
what aboint "Claire" by Gilbert o Sullivan, or, "Gay", by Clifford T Ward, "Lydia", and "Ariel" by Dean Friedman, "Annies Song", by John Denver, "Juliet" by the Four Pennies (I think!), "Peggy Sue" By Buddy Holly, and even "Dagenham Dave", by the Stranglers!

Dean :)
"Questo giorni cuando vieni e bel soler".............

Hi Dave--we have another thread for songs with people's names in---this quiz is for songs with REAL peoples names.

"Dagenham Dave" is a great one for the other name quiz--I am pretty sure we have not had that one !

If you are ever not sure of the rules for a particular quiz----the first posting in that thread will usually give the rules.

One of my Paul Williams cds has a song called

"Nillson sings Newman" so I am guessing that is Harry Nilsson and Randy Newman.

Incidentally, I just sold this cd on Ebay last week for £21.00 !!

Very good sale, Marian! I know many of those Nilsson albums have been collectors items for years.

Back to the game, I don't believe anyone has submitted:

Clint Eastwood by the Gorillaz from a few years back. The lyrics don't even mention the actor's name, but he's included in the song title. It was a odd song, but a big hit in 2001.

Perhaps Paul Williams' albums are also collectors items! :?

Back to the game, I will submit the worst song of the year so far and a song that unfortunately won't get off the charts:

"Rockstar" by Nickelback which mentions Cher, James Dean, and Elvis

I am surprised this one has not been thouight of yet--

They all laughed at Christopher Columbus
When he said the world was round.
They all laughed when Edison recorded sound.
They all laughed at Wilbur and his brother
When they said that man could fly.
They told Marconi wireless was a phoney.
It's the same old try.
