A big favourite song of mine If I Had You by The Korgis :) :)
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight by Cutting Crew (80s group now long forgotten, but it takes me back...).

Some thoughts on comments on this thread:

Lena and Harry: Robert White - I have to say I really don't like Robert White's voice. Technically fine, of course, but he has a very old fashioned style of delivery, and I'm not surprised that he is likened to John McCormack. Having said that, there are always exceptions to these things and I do like his version of Song of the Seals by the composer Granville Bantock.

Mariana: Promises Promises, by Burt Bacharach - you refer to the show of the same name but there is also the song version, and the performance of it by Dionne Warwick is probably my favourite recording of hers and is certainly one of her best vocally.

Also, with reference to Kiri Te Kanawa - I really don't like her forays into popular music and believe she should stick to her classical roots. This is a case of "crossover" going too far and, no doubt, of record companies cashing in on her celebrity status to sell records. Lena/Harry - her recordings of Puccini are most definitely not her natural repertoire: she is principally a Mozart/Richard Strauss singer (I love her renditions of some Mozart arias) and, again, her excursions into this kind of music are another cynical attempt by record companies to "cash in" on her fame to sell records: she is just not a Puccini singer.

I shall add more of my favourites performers/songs after more thought - good thread.

Hi Jon--yes I did know that there was also a song called "Promises, Promises" and agree that Dionne's version is great.

Re Kiri Te Kanawa--she is not the only opera singer to go into the realms of easy listening--Russell Watson has tried it recemtly--even to an extent , singers like Mario Lanza.,
