No, it's not Cry Me A River, but it's a very blue song as well.

One last guess before I go to bed--is it "Blue Moon"

Or have we had that one already?

No, it's not Blue Moon. That song has a longer opening verse. But you're pretty close.

The only thing I have seen Nelson Riddle hold, watching him on DVDs in his BATON
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

Hi again---it is either "Meaning of the Blues" or "It's a Blue world"??

Marian - You got it! That opening verse is from "It's A Blue World". The Four Freshmen had the best recording, but Julie London's is a close second.

Nelson Riddle played the trombone. That's why trombones often have solo parts in his arrangements for Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Linda Ronstadt.

A member of the Four Freshmen played the trombone in their recordings.

Hi Paul---well I cannot really take any credit for that, as basically it was just a guess--I do not even know the song. But I am glad I got there in the end.

I will put a verse a new verse later on.

A great song and verse this one Paul, and Well done Marian.
This song "It's A Blue World " written and composed by Robert C Wright and George Forest was nominated for an Oscar in the 1940 film " Music In My Heart" They wrote it for Tony Martin who sang it in the film and co-starred with Rita Hayworth.
They wrote several songs for Tony Martin.

Hi everyone--here is my next verse-I just wanted to check the words are correct. I actually like this part better than the main part of the song-
This is quite an easy one to guess-unlike Pauls last one

Time and again I've longed for adventure,
Something to make my heart beat the faster.
What did I long for? I never really knew.
Finding your love I've found my adventure,
Touching your hand, my heart beats the faster,
All that I want in all of this world is you
.

Hi Marian What a great song. You are the promise kiss of Springtime, That Makes The Lonely Winter Seem Long....

This is the song that Will Young sings in the film "Mrs Henderson" starring the wonderful Judi Dench.

Anyway, Here's another verse...

How nights are blue without you
I think about you the live long day.
When you ask me if i'm lonely
And I have only this to say.......

Should have stated the title to your song Marian. Sorry it's "All the things you are"

I'm not familiar with your verse Lena and Harry. But I had a couple comments on All The Things You Are. I knew the opening verse, but didn't get a chance to answer. I'm opposite of Marian though. The opening verse lyrics are fine, but the melody doesn't do anything for me. The main song is absolutely gorgeous---one of Jerome Kern's best and one of the greatest standards ever written.

It terrifies me that Will Young attempted this song. He doesn't have the range, control, or phrasing to sing this song. I never saw the movie. Did he do a passable job or was it just dreadful? He's another one that over-does the melismas.

Hi all-I must admit that I have never heard Will Young sing this song-I quite liked his versions of "Beyond the Sea" and "I wont dance", so maybe I would like it. And I still stick to saying that I do not really like this song . One of my least favourites standards.

Thinking about your one, Lena and Harry !!

Hi Paul and Marian, we were surprised that Will Young having no acting experience was cast in this film, and singing "You Are The Promise Kiss Of Springtime" can't be easy when you've got a lisp, but he played his part as Berti who is head of the music cast quite well.
All the Things You Are has been recorded by so many, but we have the Peter Sellers version from his Comedy Cuts EMI record singing with the voice of an old man in the bathroom. Peter was known as a master of accents, and a great impersonator.

Hello all. In one of his last Radio 2 shows, Ed Stewart played Peter Sellers comedy version of the song, quite good really, for a comedy record.
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(
