WHAT WAS YOUR MOST EXC TING GIFT.

November 1958, I was nine years old and it was the one and only time I ever went to an after school club.
Until that day we only had a Philips radio which sat on a tallish table in the alcove of our living room.
This particular day I walked into the room and there where the radio used to be stood a beautiful bureau style Philips radiogram, Until then the only people in my family who had a radiogram were my aunt & uncle and every time we visited they always had some new records for me to listen to.

I think I invented the saying "As High As A Kite" as after going to bed I was up and down numerous times just to "Look" at it, I was convinced I was dreaming and the radio would still be there, but no, our beautiful radiogram was still standing there!

It probably doesn't sound very exciting now, but my parents bought me a portable TV for my bedroom when I was about 14. It was only black and white, but it was a great little TV and I had it for years.

Over 30 years ago I bought a little colour set for my bedroom and the channels were touch controls, I also bought a little portable for the kitchen so's mum could watch as she cooked, it was a great little set until one day it stopped working.

I'm not certain if I bought it or my parents bought it for me, they probably did as I was quite young then.............this is what you wrote in your previous post !! ............"Over 30 years ago I bought a little colour set for my bedroom and the channels were touch controls, I also bought a little portable for the kitchen so's mum could watch as she cooked, it was a great little set until one day it stopped working"...................so that wasn't a gift either then :P

How on earth is this post which you put up on March 26th a reply to me ............when it is Johns name at the top not mine .............either you or myself are going nutty and I know its isn't me ...............by the way I have had a lie down now and you still irritate me with your offensive "tone" on the MM forum from time to time

Robert you are either praising me or slagging me, you run hot and cold all the time. However at the top of the post it said Robert M wrote, I don't analyze each and every post. You must be easily irritated when there is so much trouble in the world that is much more Important than your constant mood swings.

Karl, I have been talking about the post you put on here on (March 26th) replying to Johns post, please check above to see what I mean ............you stated "Over 30 years ago I bought a little colour set for my bedroom and the channels were touch controls, I also bought a little portable for the kitchen so's mum could watch as she cooked, it was a great little set until one day it stopped working" ...............in the post you wrote "I" bought ..........so when I posted that "I" had bought a transistor radio you slagged me off for saying the gift had to be given by someone else...............with four !!!! exclamation marks which I thought was very rude of you (no one else on the forum are as blunt and to the point as you can be)..................yes we were getting along great since you came back on the forum, but sometimes your replies are insensitive to peoples feelings.........when you joined the forum many of the MM members did say your replies where of that nature but you calmed down with your forum replies ...........let's call a truce now as we aren't getting anywhere like this .................anyway that's my final word on the matter .............I think  .............

Robert I did not slag you off I merely said if you bought the radio yourself it was not a gift, you seem to have a knack of taking things totally out of context.
As for insensitive comments, well look to yourself fella - I still remember the things you said about me and as I recall it was rather vindictive.
However the !!! were hardly worth getting your wotsits in a twist were they?

Final words ? ...........Karl, I admit I was against you at the beginning when there was that misunderstanding with Lindy, but I did apologise further down the line when I realised it was a case of your words to her had been lost in translation and it wasn't your fault ...........................why didn't you just type "I merely said if you bought the radio yourself it was not a gift" ............without putting "four" rude exclamation marks on the end .............one would have been more than enough
