The singer Gary Miller was born in Blackpool. He made some great records, he sadly died in his early 40's.

The actor Mark Bonnar from Edinburgh he has appeared in several tv plays and is in the new series of Shetland next week.
Also Sean Connery is from Edinburgh.

Another famous singer from here is David Whitfield who's song Cara Mia stayed at number one in the charts for an astonishing 9 weeks in 1955

Postscript...…..I had to add Ronnie Hilton to the list of famous people from this city to Wikipedia today they had missed him off …………..and tonight I added actress Sheila Mercier who played Annie Sugden in Emmerdale who was also missing from the list ……..she turned 100 years old on Jan 1st this year ………..she is the brother of actor and king of farce Sir Brian Rix who was also from here...…..and also missing from the list !

There should be loads of well known people from Edinburgh with it being the capital and a such a famous city
