I don't think we have had this before  :)

Just name your favourite films..............as many as you like, but just one at a time :) ..........also give us the reason why you like that particular film. Different people CAN nominate the same film (I think Carousel could get lots of nominations.......... but we may have different reasons for liking that movie  :) ).

I will start off with my favourite Ellie film, BROADWAY MELODY of 1940..............in which Ellie and Fred dance the sublime Beguine the Beguine tap dance duet :D :D

I am going to start with what may not be an obvious choice from me--

"Miracle in the Rain" starring Jane Wyman and Van Johnson.

They are both such lovely actors, and the film had it's happy parts, but was so, so sad in the end.

Well one of them has to be "Now Voyager," with Bette Davis and Paul Henreid, when things were preventing them from being totally together, and that final qoute... Oh Jerry, don't lets ask for the moon..we have the stars.. with the strains of the song "Wrong " that was playing throughout the movie then reaching a crescendo . Ahhhh.
They don't make them like that anymore.

This is another big favourite of mine---called

"DEATH VOWS--THE STORY OF A MAFIA WIFE"

It starred Melissa Gilbert [previously Laura in Little House on Prairie] and Joe Penny. I originally saw it in TV, but kept the tape of it luckily-I have now got it on dvd at last, and I still love it---again a very sad ending-and the title does not do the film justice.

"WORDS AND MUSIC" THE STORY OF RICHARD RODGERS AND LORENZ HART

I only recently got this film as a reg 1 dvd, and I love it---so many great stars--and I mean STARS--most of them no longer with us---all the wonderful music of Rodgers and Hart, along with 2 love stories ! Another sad ending though--although this one was true !!

I think one of my all time favourite films would have to be "The Sound Of Music". I just love all the songs, I can watch it over and over again. I think all the actors were superb in this.

Waterloo Bridge (1940) version, starring Robert Taylor and Vivien Leigh, one of the most memorable love stories ever made in my opinion, so sad in parts, but so uplifting at the end :) :)

I think one of my most favorite films is - The Wedding Date
Partly because of the 2 NEAT UK cars austin-healy 3000 mark 3
MGA 1600
and because it has 2 of the best pickup lines in the world, one being
"Even if I had never met you, I think I would miss you"

Other favorite film
the whole TREMORS series of films. it is way dumb and way fun

IMITATION OF LIFE ------------ LANA TURNER

She made some great films. In this one she plays an ambitious actress but the main plot involves her black maid whose daughter rejects her by trying to pass herself off as white. It has a tragic and big hankie weepy ending.

yes Marian she played Lana Turners younger daughter who was really spoilt.
The black maids daughter Sarah Jane was really jealous of her and denied that her Mum was her Mum as she tried to pass herself off as white.
Tragic.
Sandra .
