Hello to everyone---here is a new game for all to join in--it is very simple--or it could be said to be impossible
All if you have to do is nominate your Tip-Top number 1 "Matt Track". If you have a special reason for that choice that you would like to share, please do so.
Couples may have one choice each.
It is OK to come back here , and comment on others choices, but you CANNOT nominate another track.
ONE, and ONE only is the name of the game. Have fun !!
My choice for my Tip-Top number one "Matt Track " is
"I'll take romance"
No special reason--I just love it.

Hello Mariana44 and everyone. Really good choice by you Mariana44, a lovely melodic tune by Matt.
My number one choice by our Matt is the heartbreakingly sad "SOFTLY AS I LEAVE YOU". Brilliant tune, lovely arrangement and sung superbly by Matt. It also has another meaning to us of course, in our sorrowful times, so sad but such an uplifting song to listen to at those very sad moment's in life.

Hi Robert--I had a feeling that someone would come up with that song as their Tip-Top "Matt-track"--but I did not realise it would be so soon!!
It is very evocative for anyone who has lost a loved one.
As we were talking of Michael Buble on the other game, have you heard his version---I do not think it has been released in Uk yet, but I can tell you that it is another lovely version.

Hi Marian, Robert, and all My( Lena's) favourite is "Can This Be Love"
Every time we hear it either on the radio or when we play this beautiful song I have to just drop everything I'm doing and sit down and listen, I just love it.
GMMY are playing Matt right now. Superb!!

Hi Marian, Robert, and all, this is a tough one and you've heard Lena's favourite, but mine has to be "From Russia With Love."

Hello Mariana44, Lena and Harry and all. Two good pick's from you Lena and Harry. Mariana44, I haven't heard Micheal Buble's version of "Softly As I Leave You", but I have, on a CD a great version of the song by Andy Williams, but I definitely prefer Matts version of the song.
Going back to "From Russia With Love", has anybody else heard any other version's of that song by other artist's. With it being a popular song, I would have thought it would have been a good cover song for other artist's, but Matts version would take a lot of beating.I have a version by Jack Jones on his best of album, but I haven't played it as yet.

The Belgian singer Helmut Lotti recorded "From Russia With Love" on his album of mostly Russian songs titled "From Russia With Love".

My top track is "When Love Comes Along". The words are very meaningful and the arrangement is superb.

My choice is THE MUSIC PLAYED since it introduced me to Matt. It has to be the STEREO version I heard as a kid on vinyl and not the MONO version that EMI
continues to serve us with. I love both the lyrics & the melody. The orchestra rose to the occasion on the recording and gave Matt a grand dramatic backing.

One of my favourites (amongst many) is Born Free, I dont think anyone could sing this song but Matt Monro.

I'm listening to Broadway musicals this week since the Tony Awards were held on Sunday. So my current tip-top Matt Monro song is the lovely "Ethel Baby" from one of my favourite musicals, Mr Wonderful. It's a musical that could never be revived since it was a showcase for Sammy Davis Jnr...and no one can perform like Sammy Davis Jnr!
Matt Monro's recording of "Ethel Baby" is the best I've heard, and much better than the soundtrack. However, I do highly recommend the Mr Wonderful original soundtrack.

Hi all--well you are all really surprising me with your TipTop "Matt tracks"--not at all what I was expecting---a couple I had not even heard---eg--"The Music Played" and "Can this be love", so I am going to try and track them down---just goes to show that the most popular songs are not necessarily favourites!

Hi Everyone, all nice choices of your favourites by Matt, and Edgar "When Love Comes Along" would definitely rate among our top favourites. The Music Played, Born Free, Ethel Baby, all just superb. We agree with you Paul, when you say that no one could replace Sammy Davies Jnr for a revival performance of Mr Wonderful. This happens quite often in musicals in our opinion. These revivals sometimes don't or perhaps again in our opinion, cant seem to pull it off, but Sammy Davies Jnr had such versatility, impeccable timing. We saw him in 1988 with Frank Sinatra and Liza Minnelli, in The Ultimate Event, what talent all on one stage.
We love watching Sammy's impression of Michael Jackson, and his gun toting act. Brilliant.

I think my Matt-track would have to be Walk Away........
Never fails to make the hairs on my neck stand up on end.......
I gave someone this chance very many years ago, but they didn't walk....
