Matt Monro songs as antonyms - guess the real title

Post by paul jh » Mon Jan 22, 2007 7:20 pm

Marian asked for a new, challenging quiz. My suggested quiz is a bit like the cryptic game, but hopefully it will be easier. Think of a Matt Monro song title, but write it in opposite terms. The rest of us can then guess it. The person who guesses it correctly must supply a new song title written in opposite.

Here's an easy example:

Run Here

would be:

Walk Away

Here's the first one for you to guess:

Hi Paul this is good idea for a quiz. Is our answer correct to your cryptic?? " September Song. "?

Well done, Lena and Harry, for the very first guess! March is exactly six months from September and a poem is kind of an opposite of a song.

It's your turn to submit an opposite title. Please don't make it too challenging yet. Let's work slowly towards the advanced level. :)

Silly me--I got quite carried away--I first thought of "From Russia with love"--which led me to "Goldfinger"

Sorry everyone    But at least you can see how it works.

I will try this one

"Tony !!!"

That's a good one. I believe it's one of Robert's top 5 Matt Monro songs:

Maria

Let me know if I'm right, then I'll submit another song after I return from my coffee and doughnuts.

Since I'm pretty sure I was right with Tony/Maria, and I'll be away for awhile with my coffee and doughnuts, I'll take the opportunity to submit another easy one:

Very good, John. Your turn. Please save the 1970s album tracks and B sides for a little later in the game. :) I know how you love to submit lyrics from those songs to stump us!

Not as problem, Jon, as my name is Jeff (but not for Marian from Kent!), so I don't mind mistakes on my middle name.

Your song is Spring Is Here. Here's another:

Die Imprisoned
