5.0 out of 5 stars An in-depth and entertaining chronicle of one of the musical greats, 14 Nov 2011
By Walkers

This review is from: Matt Monro: The Singer's Singer: The Life and Music of Matt Monro (Hardcover)

After beginning with a frank and beautifully written foreword Ms Monro moves the narrative into the third person for the rest of the book. Each
chapter is interspersed with paragraphs of comment and further detail from the people who were there. The book is overflowing with photo content and should satisfy not just fans of Matt Monro but anyone who has an interest in music and/or entertainment. As a musician, I appreciated the attention given to Matt's accompanists and musical collaborators - something that may have been glossed over or omitted in a lesser biography. All aspects of Matt's life are chronicled - the personal, business, spiritual and artistic - but for me, the heart of the book was the journey Matt made
alongside his wife Mickie and their family (to quote Betty Comden & Adolph Green) that's 'the real stuff in life to cling to'
