Magical Monro, 11 April 2010
By K. E. Ellis (Leeds, England)

This review is from: Matt Monro: The Singer's Singer: The Life and Music of Matt Monro (Hardcover)
Just read this book - I've always believed that Matt Monro was probably one of the best of a very small handful of truly great singers and unfortunately never got to see him perform. Big regret! For years wanted to read more about this man, and now we're blessed with a 600 page book which has been written about him from birth to death and leaving seemingly nothing out about his life. Written by Michele, Matt's daughter this book is truly magical ... it is written with love and respect, giving the reader a complete guide to this charismatic man - who always came over to the listener as THE voice - one which could bring forth from his listeners a variety of emotions and still does to this day. This book is beautifully written, sentimental and loving but not cheesey or slushy and is totally readable. A real life story which should be read by everyone who loved Matt's music and wanted to know about his life. This has come out 25 years after the singer died, but so worth waiting for. Truly wonderful, I've loved reading this and would recommend it to anyone who thought they knew about this person - you may be in for some surprises! A beautiful book!
