Review of The Singer's Singer box set

Post by Marian » Fri Sep 09, 2011 11:31 am

Nice little review in this morning's Daily Express 'Weekend Music' by Simon Gage.

" You can never have enough shoes, handbags or Matt Monro records, which is why this bargain box-set totally hits the spot.
Yes, for some he'll always be a cut-price Frank Sinatra but there is definitely nothing inferior about that voice as he rattles through 100 of the 20th century's finest compositions, from Fly Me To The Moon to The Long And Winding Road, from Music To Watch Girls By to Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Smoother than peanut butter and much better for your figure, this is a total treat." SG

My copy is in the post hopefully it will arrive tomorrow.

Matt was never a cut price Sinatra and never even tried to be, he was Matt Monro and had his own unique style.

You know, listening to Matt or watching his dvd's is always so enjoyable, his voice NEVER grates on you - just listen to the opening of Walk Away it's so melodic.
