:?: Okay, John, but have you heard Crystal Gayle singing When I Dream? I can't imagine anyone singing it better. It is a beautiful song. :)

:?: Okay, John, but have you heard Keely Smith singing It's Magic? I can't imagine anyone singing it better. It is a beautiful song. :)

 Actually I like Doris's and Keely's versions equally. Please try to find Crystal Gayle's version of When I Dream, and let us know what you think of it. I think you'll agree it's the best.

Keely Smith's version is perhaps equally as good as Doris Day's, but it was Doris Day's version that was everyones favourite over here. She was better known than Keely Smith.
Both singers are Two of the best of female vocalists.

Hi everyone,

Listening to Dusty Springfield singing"Going back"
Goodness me, there is a line in the song where Dusty says "looking at life as it used to be!" Talk about bringing a lump to your throat.
Dusty is still one of the best female singers of all time. :D

Listening to the pristine sounding CD, on the Jasmine label - So Many Memories by Frances Langford...............most of Frances' CD's usually have lots of hiss, but not this one :D
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

I LOVE Christmas songs. :D :)
I just couldn't wait until the 1st of December to hear the songs that I love.

I have just listened to Charlie Landsborough singing "The greatest gift" now I have "Merry Christmas darlin'" by the Carpenters playing on my PC.

Merry Christmas everyone! :D :)

Hi Hilary
I thought I was a lone Charlie Landsborough fan
crying in the wilderness of British unfamiliarity with the
man's music. For forum members who enjoy gentle
country/folk comprising tuneful melodies and near-poetic
lyrics, I unhesitatingly recommend his stuff. Songs such as
I Will Love You All My Life, No Time At All, My Forever Friend,
I Still Can't Say Goodbye. Sample lyric:

When life's a picture, all black and white,
with so much there that isn't right,
a gentle smile and you begin to change the scene
and colour in, and leaden weights turn into wings,
how do you do those things?

How do you take my heart and turn it over,
making my concrete world a field of clover...

From troubled waters to healing springs,
How do you do those things?

Instead of drums I'm hearing strings ...

The vocal side of Charlie's singer/songwriter talent
could perhaps be stronger, but he is, nonetheless,
very listenable.
Keith
