What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
I have been looking for a recording of Marti Caine for ages--someone said that her version of "Time after Time" was the best ever--at the time she knew she did not have long to live. I have many great versions of this song-in fact I do not thoink that I have ever heard a bad one-bjt I would love to hear Marti singing it.

Yes Marti Webb does appear in musicals. She has appeared in many over the years, as well as "Tell Me On A Sunday" and made quite a lot of TV appearances, but somehow never seemed to achieve the recognition or get the publicity that she deserved.
She seems to only be remembered by that one song.
Marti Caine was a very popular comedienne and singer on TV.
Really sad that she died so young.

I looked a little deeper into Marti Caine's background Lena and Harry, and it was "New Faces" as you say of course.
I think it was Nina Myskov, the other panellist.
Marti Cane actually won the show herself in 1975, beating Lenny Henry and Victoria Wood at the time.
She had a hard upbringing, suffering sexual abuse from her grandfather, and a hard struggle to succeed on the club circuit, until her eventual success in "New Faces".
Apparently, her husband chose her eventual stage name from a gardening book, Marta Cane, from Tomato Cane, but it was mispelled and became Marti Caine.

Hi John
Which albums did you transfer to CD?
I prefer the lady's voice when she was older, around the time she did those amazing comeback concerts at the Palladium.

Dorothy Sqires is Eric Hall's favourite female singer. He plays at least one of her songs each week.
On Sunday it was that lovely song, "When The Poppies Bloom Again."
She was one of the most popular singers on radio, and a great character.
Her partner before her marriage to Roger Moore...Billy Reid wrote many of her songs including.. "I Still Believe" one of our favourites recorded by Al Martino. and that other great vocalist Ronnie Hilton.
