Gosh, Marian! You had to go all the way to the States to find the LP's?
Now that is dedication!
How did you track Rick Rhea down?

Not quite that dedicated Gray. (Although I did sell some jewellery in the early days to pay for them.. now they are two a penny!)
They came by post. We used to be members of the Sinatra Society, and Rick Rhea used to advertise in the monthly mag. "Perfectly Frank".
I also bought several from The Record Centre in Birmingham.

I bought a load of my Johnny Mathis records from "The Record Centre" in Birmingham---sadly it is no longer there.

I heard Jake Thackray on "The Alan Titchmarsh Show" with "La De Dah"---
I certainly remember him --a very recognisable voice and style.

At long last I received my Johnny Mathis cd---so I have been listening to that all weekend--mostly familiar songs from the 70's--a couple I did not know--I would say this this is the most commercial-sounding recording that he has done for some time--and at 72 the voice is still sounding good---very different to his early recordings obviously.

Very interesting to read your experiences record hunting, Marian 1 & 2! :)
I still think you are very dedicated and passionate fans, if I was a famous singer I think I would thank you personally as often as I could! :)

PS Glad your Johnny Mathis cd turned up! :)
