Great Sinatra songs, aren't they John, and so is Matt.
We are listening to him singing " On Days Like These" on Eric Hall right now.

I've been listening to The Don Black Songbook today. Some quite rare ones from Matt, including The Me I Never Knew, which has only appeared on one other CD I believe. Wonderful, as always.

Lena Martell is appearing at the Glasgow Pavilion in October, a few days before Matt Jnr.
Hadn't heard anything from Lena Martell since she was guest on Eric Hall's programme some time back.

Been listening to some Chopin recently. Did you know that the tune of the song "Till The End of Time", which of course Matt recorded, is taken from Chopin's Polonaise Opus 53? The piece is also played in the film "Shine" about the pianist David Helgoff, which was shown on BBC1 last week. Another song which is partly based on a classical piece is "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen, played in "Bridget Jones's Diary", the slow part of which is taken from Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto.

George loved the music of Chopin---his favourite pianist was Arthur Rubinstein, and at one time we had several of his recordings. I am not sure where they are now !!

Thanks to Lena and Harry, at the moment I am listening to another of the great crooners of the 50's, Alan Dale. Some great songs on here including "Oh Marie", "In Old Sorrento" and "The Birds and the Bees". :D
