Al Martino was still performing up until he passed away Karl, in fact he toured the U.K. 4 times between 2004 and 2008 and still in fine voice.

Well John he must have been good onstage when you saw him 5 times, I have a few of his cd's I like "To The Door Of The Sun" but I haven't listenied to it for awhile I must dig it out.

You look so young to like all the older stars!

I remember when I was about 18 being in one of our high class record stores (when records stores WERE record stores and the staff knew their business), oen of the female assisants told me I had a very mature taste in music, I never forgot that - however I've since learnt a better word from Dusty
'eclectic' - I like that word!

Karl, I know John has an eclectic taste in music :) he is young, just turned 40 not too long ago..........I think most of us on the MM forum have very eclectic tastes in music too, which you need to have to enjoy good music :)

It's good to know that a younger generation enjoy easy listening music.

I read awhile back that some parents came home and found their kids and their friends listening to the parents records of Frank Sinatra and all the big names as they were sick of listening to chart material.

I enjoy lots of singer from the 50's, my aunt & uncle always used to have new records when we visited and did I enjoy going there, they had Dickie Valentine, Harry James, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis to name but a few and when Matt came along my uncle liked him too.

Over the years I have bought several of the older stars cd's and also some 50's compilations from Fantastic Voyage Records, they do wonderful box sets with loads of information on the sleeves.

One of my favourites from the 50's was Shrimp Boats by Jo Stafford which I now have on cd.

Thankyou for saying I am still young even at 40 Robert :D :D , However Karl, there are one or two members a lot younger than me. I have always liked the older singers though. You can't beat them! :D

John last year I bought a birthday card for a friend which stated 60 is the new 40 so in that case you're 20!!! 40 is not old but it's great to hear you say that people younger than yourself appreciate "The Greats".
