To be fair to you Don, I was not sure if you were joking or not-but as we have so many lovely friends from USA on this forum, I just wanted to say what I thought. As our dear Harry and Lena say, we will not hold it against you !

This might stir things up again Gray
In all WW11 films made in the U.S. the heroes are always Americans whereas we all know they only showed up towards the end!! :o
To be fair though, I only learned the other day that many U.S. Troops joined up in the U.K Forces to fight alongside us much earlier, when it was illegal in their own country to do so. :)

Yes, they were late arrivals Marian, until the attack on Pearl Harbour December 7 1941, but thank god they were keeping us supplied with arms up until then, much to the relief of the British armed forces and of course The Home Guards ( Dads Army) their plea to the Ministry Of Supply. .........
Could you please oblige us with a bren gun. Or failing that a hand grenade will do.
We've got some ammunition in a rather damp condition, and Major Huss has an arquebus that was used at Waterloo.
With the vicars stirrup pump, a pitchfork and a spade. it's rather hard to guard an aerodrome.
So if you cant oblige us with a bren gun the Home Guard might as well go home. :D :D

The "baddie" in the superb animated Disney film The Lion King "Scar" was voiced by Brit, Jeremy Irons

They seem to love our sit-coms in the U.S. too and often follow them with their own versions that don't always work.

I watched Twighlight on TV the other day and found it entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing the sequel too.

On "Celebrity" tonight, George Hamilton was praising the Brits during the war................but, isn't he too young to remember the war ?? -(born in the 40's) :)

No Robert, he was a war baby, as was I. The effects of the war went on for many years afterwards.
Rationing didn't end completely until 1954!
