Just listening to The Carpenters" at the moment, the "Lovelines" album. There are some lovely songs on this including "Where Do I Go From Here" and "You're The One". I am sure Mariana will be familiar with this album. 8)

Listened to Richard Moores remarkable re-mastered Matt Sings, Nelson Swings last night for the first time  I have played the version from the Nelson Riddle appreciation society (I gave a review on these pages :) ). The original CD was a re-mastered version from the 1967 TV concert...................but Richard Moore has done absolute wonders on his CD :D Richard, how come you can get the sound on all your releases to sound soooooo bloomin' excellent, when others cannot :?: the quality was crystal clear :D :D

That song is so underrated-I cannot ever remember hearing it on radio.

Yes, Mariana and John, credit to Don Black,
Beyond The Hill would stand alone as a piece
of verse; it conjures for me the aspirations of a
young couple setting out on their lives together.
Matt's divine interpretation is the polish on the
musical handicraft.
Isn't it strange how certain grains of gold escape
the prospector's sieve?

Hi Mark

I wonder which version of Patti Page's Old Cape Cod you are listening to. Is it the mono hit version on Mercury or her stereo re-recording on Columbia? I love both of them.

I've just been listening to a new young vocalist
purportedly in the Matt Monro / Frank Sinatra mould.
He was being featured on the Robert Elms London 94.9
Show. The singer's name is Atilla (? spelling), but as I
suspected he isn't in the same class as the aforementioned
greats; he is a listenable jazz vocalist, nevertheless
and good luck to the lad in his promising singing career.
Keith

PS I have also been trawling through old posts of mine
and I have discovered that I have posted my poem
entitled, SING! on two separate occasions. Fellow forum
members please forgive this silly old so-and-so; they say that
the memory is the first faculty to go ... :?

I'm glad to see the Tigers are confounding
the critics Robert, however they will be severely
tested tomorrow. (At least my short term memory
is okay. What was your question, again?) :)
