I saw my first Jason Statham movie in the States last year on dvd, I think he's good - pure Bomd type action where you can shift your brain into 1st gear.

Can't remember the title but he was looking after a young boy.

We have been watching over the past few weeks a series of black and white American comedy films called "Ma and Pa Kettle". There were 9 movies made in total from the early to late 50's and they are hilarious. I had never heard of them before, they are about a family of hill billies headed by Ma and Pa Kettle who have either 14 or 15 children. Just brilliant. They don't make them k=like that anymore. :)

John was it like The Beverly Hillbillies? They were funny in their day but humour does date and we sometimes wonder why we liked them if we see them again, like some dvd's I pulled out over the weekend and watched - then wondered why I ever bought them;-

Maniac Cop 1 & 2 and Robocop

I suppose in a way sort of like The Beverly Hill-billies Karl, they live on a farm, and Ma does all the work while Pa sits around doing nothing, and in the first film they win a new home with all mod cons (of the day) and they move into that, but still keep their old farm on with all the animals. They are really funny, and Ma is brilliant.

Sounds good John, I used to like The Beverly Hillbillies.

Do you remember Green Acres?

I hadn't heard of Green Acres Karl, however just looked on youtube and there are some episodes on there. It looks quite good. I noticed that Eddie Albert is in it, he was a good actor who appeared in lots of films and TV shows over the years.

I just watched Shutter Island which
I've had for some time, what a great film - well produced with an unusual twist. I haven't seen too many of Leonardo's films but he was great in this.

I went to see Gravity last night with a bunch of mates and we all felt the same way, a technical marvel, it really does look amazing. However, it would of been nice to have enjoyed a plot as well! The story is rather thin on the ground (pardon the pun) :D

Confess,Gray. You were all watching the Barbarella spacesuit scene on repeat for two hours.Milo O'Shea probably just looked like George Clooney after that distraction.

Hi Don,
Yes, the Barbarella sequence was all rather strange, wasn't it!? I read an article written by a scientist who said if the scene was true to science, Sandra Bullock should of been wearing a nappy and not underpants.
I take it you have also seen Gravity...? Thoughts?

Looks like all the episodes are on youtube, as are the Ma and Pa Kettle movies, if anyone is thinking of trying them

Gray is Gravity worth going to see? I do like George Clooney but he's made some real clunkers hasn't he?

Karl I thought Gravity was cool for the effects but i had to take the 3D glasses off as I was getting motion sickness. Storyline was just average. Watched a really stupid dvd Curse of Chucky. Ugh someone just do away with that dumb doll, this time around there is poisoned chilli. Ho hum

Hi Karl, Gravity is a feast for the senses, but if you like narrative in your films, you will go hungry.
That being said, if you do intend on seeing Gravity at some point, then the cinema is the place to see it - on as big a screen as possible!
