I'm sure that's the one Marian means Jon.
Here are the full lyrics..

A WINDMILL IN OLD AMSTERDAM
A mouse lived in a windmill in old Amsterdam
A windmill with a mouse in and he wasn't grousin'
He sang every morning, "How lucky I am,
Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam!"

Chorus:
I saw a mouse!
Where?
There on the stair!
Where on the stair?
Right there!
A little mouse with clogs on
Well I declare!
Going clip-clippety-clop on the stair
Oh yeah

This mouse he got lonesome, he took him a wife
A windmill with mice in, it's hardly surprisin'
She sang every morning, "How lucky I am,
Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam!"

Chorus

First they had triplets and then they had quins
A windmill with quins in, and triplets and twins in
They sang every morning, "How lucky we are
Living in a windmill in Amsterdam, ya!"

Chorus

The daughters got married and so did the sons
The windmill had christ'nin's when no one was list'nin'
They all sang in chorus, "How lucky we am
Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam!"

Chorus

A mouse lived in a windmill, so snug and so nice
There's nobody there now but a whole lot of mice.

Gosh yes!
I have that on cd, the girls love it - but I had no idea that is Ronnie Hilton.
Gosh, I've learnt something there, thanks.

Thanks, Marian. I must get a recording of that song. Silly but good.

Memphis in June is probably my favourite track on Matt At the BBC.

Hi Jon.
I see "Windmill" is included on the CD The Very Best Of Ronnie Hilton. There are a couple of new copies on ebay at the moment. Also some singles of the song, but these look to have seen better days! :D :D

Hi Marian

Thanks for that. I'm actually totally unfamiliar with Ronnie Hilton's music (apart from "Windmill", of course, which, until you pointed it out, I didn't realise was by him (in fact, I didn't know who it was by)) but maybe this is my excuse to delve into it a bit more.

So happy to read that you love Memories of You too Robert. It's breathtaking. :D

The past couple days I've been listening to the album by a new Australian group called Empire of the Sun. I'm sure you've heard them on Radio 2, as they have been playing their single We Are The People very often. It's a cross between outer space and early 70s music. A bit odd, but some of the songs are nice. :)
