What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?

Maureen and Harry, as Marian said, the Glenn Close version of South Pacific has been panned by the critics and the viewers........but I have not seen that version  but after seeing Mitzi Gaynor in the original 1958 film release (on DVD a few years ago), I don't think the Glenn Close version appeals to me............but saying that most people on IMDB think Mitzi was the wrong choice for Nellie, most prefering to see Doris Day in the role.

One of my favourite songs from the OST is "My girl back home"---which never featured in the film. I wonder why not ..

I think one of these two songs This Nearly Was Mine or Carefully Taught may have been the deleted song you mean Marian ? :)

Actually My Girl Back Home was in the film, but was deleted from the Broadway production. It has been added back to the current revival at Lincoln Center in NYC. It's one of my favourites too. :)

Paul, it looks like I will have to watch the film again, as I cannot remember hearing it in the film--but it is quite a while since I last saw it.

Like Robert, I can remember the lyrics very clearly.

I thought the other 2 songs "Carefully taught" and "This nearly was mine" were in the film.

I do not think Jack's new cd is ever going to be a hit, until it is released to the General public---there must be many like me who would buy it if we couild.

Have been listening to South Pacific so it struck me we have a 1958 LP with the original film cast and after much searching in cupboards we found it.

The songs are as follows:
1. South Pacific Overture 9. I'm Gonnat Wash That Man etc
2. Dites-moi 10. A Wonderful Guy
3. none-Eyed Optimist 11. Younger Tah Springtime
4. Some Enchanted Evening 12. Happy Talk
5. Bloody Mary 13. Honey Bun
6. My Girl Back Home
7. There Is Nothing Like A Dame 14. Carefully Taught
8. Bali Ha'i 15. This Nearly Was Mine

Just thought this might help, as far as I remember this LP was released in conjunction with the film.

Keep Happy Talkin'

Maureen :D :D

Just read my post and the computer thinks I'm swearing again!! So apologies for some of the lines that don't make sense but I know you'll know what the songs are.
