What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
Listening to Maureen Evans CD tonight (along with radio shows
)...........John, don't you think Acapulco Mexico is a really catchy tune ?
.................it should have been a big hit for Maureen
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
Hi Robert, yes, I agree it is catchy, it's surprising how she only had the one or two hits. Another one I have been listening to recently is Marion Ryan, I think she only had the odd hit as well. I was listening last night to a 3 cd set of British Male vocalists, some good singers on there I had never heard of like Jimmy Parkinson and Ken Kirkham. Another one called Gerry Brereton who sang a lovely song called "A Million Helping Hands". But some of our favourites are on this set too including our Matt, Dickie Valentine, Malcom Vaughan and Ronnie Hilton.

Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
John, you do know that Marion Ryan is the mother of Paul and Barry Ryan
...................listening to Matt singing the English version of The Southern Star
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
Yes Robert, I knew that, but I have to admit I hadn't heard of them before we mentioned Marion Ryan a while ago.
Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
John, I am surprised by that
Paul and Barry Ryan had a massive hit in the late 60's with Eloise
...............listening to John Williamson CD tonight which includes the couple of songs he performs at the Steve Irwin memorial tribute
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
John is much too young to remember the Fifties Robert!!
Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
Well, maybe so Marian, but I think I am much too old for music of the 90's and 2000's!
Ask me a question about music of the 50's and 60's and I think I have a better chance of getting it right than asking who is in the charts at the moment.

Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
I believe one of the twins died, a good few years back-and Marion Ryan died sometime afterwards---well, I think that is what happened.

Yes, I think one of the twins died in the early 90's Marian, and Marion Ryan died in 1999.
Listening to Ronnie Carroll singing "Say Wonderful Things" from his cd "The Ronnie Carroll Story".

The one and only Vera Lynn and her daughter Virginia are featured in Eric's programme today.
Vera and her daughter are involved with an an organisation for children with Cerebal Palsy. Two weeks ago Eric met them at one of their charity days and we heard part of a recording of the interview.
We have heard Vera's "As Time Goes By" and " Red Sails In The Sunset"
"Goodnight Children Everywhere." "We'll Meet Again"
"The White Cliffs Of Dover" "Yours" finishing with.
"The Day After Tomorrow," this is one of my Favourite Vera Lynn songs

Hearing Robert and John discussing the Maureen Evans cd, i thought i would treat myself to the cd---checked out ebay first--nothing there-so went to Amazon to find that a new one is £218.98---and a used one is £200.62. !!
What on earth is that all about--does anyone ever buy a cd with a price tag like that !!!!!
Needless to say, I have changed my mind !!

GOOD EVANS. !!!!
maybe it's because this CD is unique. After all, how often do you buy a chosen CD of a certain singer and then find Two other tracks of another singer thrown in.

Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
That is a ridiculous price for that cd, isn't it Marian.
Lena and Harry, I think "Pal Of My Cradle Days" is one of Jimmy Roselli's finest songs, when I first heard it I couldn't stop playing it.
