Jon, we remember Dinah Sheridan for her role in Genevieve and in the film "The Railway Children," and always thought what an attractive lady she is.
Her Daughter Jenny Hanley who was the daughter of Jimmy Hanley remember him in the film "The Blue Lamp" used to be on Blue Peter. Don't remember seeing her for years on TV now.
Anita, Casablanca was one of the best films of that era. Of course it had the best actors of that erea too.
Remember that great song tinkled on the ivories by Sam "As Time Goes By" the pianist played by Dooley Wilson.
We all know they don't make em like that any more

I remember "Jims's Inn" on tv many years ago with Jimmy Hanley and I think Dinah Sheridan and Jenny Hanley were also in the show.

Anita

I went to see Casablanca at the cinema when it was re-issued about 10 years ago.
I had seen it on telly before, but in the cinema it was almost as though I saw a different movie, on the big screen it was fabulous.
The biggest impression on me were all the close-ups of Ingrid Bergman, she looked absolutely beautiful.

Great movie.

Hi Gray, yes Casablanca has to be seen on the big screen and although there are so many beautiful screen actresses, for myself... I (Lena )have always looked on Ingrid Berman as being one of the Three most beautiful, the other Two, Grace Kelly, and Deborah Kerr.

Do not forget Loretta Young---she was gorgeous in "The Bishops Wife"---and there's Greer Garson.!! But I have to admit Ingird Bergman was really special.

Robert I should have checked out the films today  because I remember someone asking me if I had seen that film. This was one of her favourite films and she has seen it so many times. :)

Hi

Watched 'The Days of Wine & Roses' last week, it played on TCM.
Gorgeous title song, but by-gum the movie was depressing.

However, Jack Lemmon is a wonderful actor, he is always so mesmerising, even if the movie he appears in is not so hot.

Speaking of good performers, I saw 'The Queen' the other day, after 10 minutes you almost forget it's Helen Mirren you are watching, she is quite wonderful in the role. (As is Michael Sheen, who plays Tony Blair).

I bought the 2 disc special edition of Rogers and Hammersteins musical "State Fair" about a year ago. Made in 1945 in glorious technicolour, I have now got to the "extras" of the DVD. I really love watching any "extras" that come with DVDs, especially if the film is dear to my heart, which "State Fair" definitely is. Jean Craine, Dana Andrews, Vivian Blaine and dick Haymes (EDIT- his name is a nickname or short for Richard!!!!), all help to make this "family" musical so magical 8) 8) 8) 8)

Hi Robert--what did you think of the version with Pat Boone, Bobby Darin and Ann-Margret. I was glad to get to see it, but I preferred the original version.

I have the Bobby Darin version as I really liked him at the time, but I think I agree, the original was better.

I haven't got to disc two yet Marian. I am still watching disc one. Last night I sat through the whole film, but this time with the commentary on. There is still an interesting part of disc one, which I think is called "from film to stage " to watch. So there are plenty of "extras" to watch on both discs 8)
