What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
I've been going thru my old audio cassettes that I haven't played for ages, but now my car can play the old cassettes along with a CD changer.
The last one I heard today driving home was a band which played in the U.K. by the name of CARL BARRITEAU who played clarinet in the style of
Artie Shaw & had his own band from 1942 until he joined Cyril Stapleton's Orchestra as a soloist in 1951. He moved to Australia in 1970-1998.
Has anyone on this forum heard him as he recorded for Decca & was named #1 Clarinet Player in the U.K. for seven straight years?

Disc 2 Of Matt At The Movies
I am loving every second of it, I know all the songs and that note at the end of Over The Ranbow - wonderful!.
I think this set is on a par with The Singles it's THAT good.
I also think Mr. Monro invented the Easy in Easy Listening, as I've said before I always liked Matt and bought several of his records over the years, however since the Australian dvd and the book it's like I am hearing him for the first time and I really do think he was very underrated.

At work I've my Ipod and so far it's shuffled Morrissey (another fave!!), The Smiths, The B-52's Matt, Tony Christie, Petula Clark (love her she's one of my fave female singers), Dusty S. (my other fave female singer), the BCR's, Shaun Cassidy, some Spanish music, and Jimmy Cliff's "You can get it if you really want" however everytime I hear that song I think of David Morrissey dancing and singing to it in "Blackpool". LOL

Thank you Mariana, I quite like the sound of yours also. Jack Jones eh. I only liked him when he sang "What I Did For Love " and "With One More Look At You" back in the 70's. Not familiar with his 60's output!!mariana44 wrote:I like the sound of your ipod Eman !!

thanks Eman---I love my ipod !!--there is a lot of Jack Jones music around--it just does not get played enough on the radio--my favourites are the RCA albums--they go back quite a way, but maybe not back to the 60's

I think Jack's Rca material started in the late 60's Marian as the first single I bought was called Without Her.mariana44 wrote:thanks Eman---I love my ipod !!--there is a lot of Jack Jones music around--it just does not get played enough on the radio--my favourites are the RCA albums--they go back quite a way, but maybe not back to the 60's

Mariana, the only albums I own of his are "What I Did For Love" and "With One More Look At You". I bought those when I was living in the Philippines cuz you couldn't escape them on the radio. LOL. Yeah I love my Ipod also because it's convienient, but when I'm home it's straight to good old fashion records and cds. I love the way a vinyl record sounds as long as it isn't all scratchy..mariana44 wrote:thanks Eman---I love my ipod !!--there is a lot of Jack Jones music around--it just does not get played enough on the radio--my favourites are the RCA albums--they go back quite a way, but maybe not back to the 60's

I really like Johnny Mathis , singing "Over the Rainbow"-I just wish he had sung it alone, and not as a duet---and he did not sing the verse--my favouite part
I now have Doris Day's version as a ring tone on my new phone--now that I figured out how to do it !!
"When all the world is a hopeless jumble, and the raindrops tumble all around"--that is how I feel sometimes !!!!

Funny you should mention Doris Day Marian. We have had a DD medley in the car today while taking my Mum out to lunch.
We have a 3 CD set of DD called 'HER LIFE IN MUSIC'and I have just looked and no 'OVER THE RAINBOW' on them
My favourite songs of hers are 'JULIE' and 'WITH A SONG IN MY HEART'
Will look out now for DD and Johnny Mathis's versions.

You know they always cut out that intro verse and I think it's the most powerful lyric of the song "Over The Rainbow"mariana44 wrote:I really like Johnny Mathis , singing "Over the Rainbow"-I just wish he had sung it alone, and not as a duet---and he did not sing the verse--my favouite part
