Vince Hill was always a great favourite of ours--I have quite a few old Lps, that have never been released as cds, plus quite a few cds, including "Evergreen".
Two of my favourite LPs are "Vince Hill sings The Ivor Novello Songbook",and the one I like best "Sing a song of Sedaka"---where Vince sings some great Neil Sedaka songs---I have put one of these on to cd, and plan to do the other--when I get time !!!
Of the more modern cds I like the one where Vince sings the songs of Diane Warren called "Real Songs"--- with "Because you you loved me" "How do I live" " "Can't fight the moonlight."--Diane Warren is an amazing lady---very prolific with her songwriting and she has had many many hits! She was featured on a TV documentary a while back--a very quiet person- -- nearly always plainly dressed in black--very modest, but so incredibly talented.

I've never heard of Vince Hill. Is he still recording or performing?
This week I've been listening to Radio 1 to hear my first three favourite songs of 2007:
The Prayer - Bloc Party
Golden Skans - Klaxons
Starz In Their Eyes - Just Jack
I like them so much that I ordered them from recordstore.co.uk.
I know that Bloc Party and Klaxons may not appeal to many of you, but they are wonderfully written and produced songs (especially The Prayer). You should try to listen to or download Starz In Their Eyes. It's about the music reality shows (especially Pop Idol and X Factor) and what they can do to kids. I'm not sure I agree with it, but I love the groove and Jack's North London accent!

Look around is a lovely song, and Al Martino also made a great recording of that number.
Vince is one of the best British singers we've ever had. We heard this story a few weeks ago about some neighbours who lived near Vince Hill and his wife. These people had a fire in their home in the night and Vince and Annie took these people into there house and took care of them.
What we realised was that this event had occured on the very night before Vince was guest on Eric Hall's Sunday show but he didn't mention a word about it.

I agree "Look Around" is a beautiful song
the very underated Vince Hill will be 70 years young on April 16th this year - born in Coventry in 1937. Vince was once a member of a group called The Raindrops along with Jackie Lee, who went on to sing one of my favourite ever songs "White Horses" from the TV series. Jackie was also pictured with Matt in one of Matts "biography" booklets
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
Just to say that I have been listening to the anthology 2 disc CD of the lovely 60's group "The Searchers" (their Needles and Pins is one of the first songs I remember ever having listened to) for the past couple of nights. They had quite a few really catchy hit songs, but there are some lovely "unknown gems" among the collection

The Searchers were a very underated pop act L&H. Their recording career didn't last very long really, but some of the songs on the 2 disc set are superb, especially a couple of unknown songs
I listened to all those Frances Langford "Radio Shows" L&H the other day. The Martin and Lewis show was very entertaining. Can't believe Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis started their "double act" in the 40's
I listened to the Frances Langford album "I'm In the Mood For Love" last night
