The one group that we really liked Robert were "The Dave Clark Five " with their "Glad All Over", and "Bits And Pieces "when our floor often took a hammering from parties etc  "Hermans Hermits," "The Troggs" the " Swinging Blue Jeans" were good too.
Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis were a great duo. We've got some of their songs on 78s "Every Street's A Boulevard In Old New York " etc. The split came after Ten Years together. A planned surprise re-union on stage in the Seventies took place, but it didn't come to anything more than that.
We have been listening to Frances Langford recently too Robert.

I gave a first listen last night to my Gigliola Cinquetti "Greatest Hits" album, the only album available on HMVs website by Gigliola  I ordered it way back, but HMV had to order it from their suppliers, I only received it after Christmas  If you check the HMV website under Frances Langfords "So Many Memories" album, which by the way is FANTASTIC 8) 8) you will see that it says - other customers who bought this album also bought "I'm In the Mood For Love" by Frances Langford 8) and the "Greatest Hits" of Gigliola Cinquetti 8) well that customer is ME

We are also sorry that the "Song Stylist "web-site has been forced to closed down Robert :x
As far as HMV and ordering goods from them, they do sometimes seem slow at sending, but if they haven't got the item it's due to the goods having to come from Jersey.
Also Robert, on Amazon .co.uk there is a Frances Langford DVD on there, a double feature......
Career Girl/ Dixie Jamboree that looks good, and she appears in another DVD with the title Dreaming Out Loud.

Thanks for the information L&H. I did notice the Frances Langford double bill DVD at Amazon. I have already downloaded the full version of Dixie Jamboree onto my PC from Google Videos a while ago, the standard of the film is only like a B movie, apart from Frances' songs in the film.

I told a "big" Frances Langford fan in the USA about the "song stylists website" last week. He said the "site" was amazing, so he will be very disappointed too!!!!

Hi Robert

I see you mentioned "White Horses" from the TV series as one of your favourite songs. It was released fairly recently on a compilation album of 60s girl singers, and I guess that is the recording you have.

I remember the TV programme well as a young lad, and the star, Helga Anders, who played Julia, was an early crush for many males of my (and presumably your) generation. However she had a tragic life and suffered abuse as a child and then got into drink and drugs, and was for a while a porn artist. I believe she died at about the age of 38 in 1986. The show was made in 1965 but was first shown on British TV from 1968 onwards, and I can remember it being repeated endlessly during school holidays for many years afterwards. No known English language recordings of it exist, though I think there may be a Yugoslav one knocking about somewhere, as the show originated from Yugoslavia. What memories, what memories...

Thanks for all the information on Helga Anders, jon. Really interesting to read of her tragic life. She actually passed away on the 30th March 1986 aged as you say 38, jon. Helga was born in Innsbrook, Austria in 1948. I too had a crush on her jon, probably the first TV personality I had a crush on, me being an early teenager at the time. I haven't actually got a copy of the song "White Horses" john, I just remember the song from the TV series or when I hear it on radio shows. But both the song and the TV series made a very big impression on me. Thanks once again jon for your info 8)

We do John, we have the complete discography. The most unusual song of Al's is a number that he recorded and was sung and recorded by the old famous Scottish singer and comedian Sir Harry Lauder. We have this 78rpm too.  "Sound Advice"
The reason for this possibly was when he appeared in the early Fifties for the old notoriously loud but appreciative audiences at the old "Glasgow Empire"
