I'm listening to the Matt Monro CD in the WH Smith book-azine. Great collections of songs. And after yesterday's disturbing incident, I wanted to hear Born Free sung properly. I've been away from the greatest hits for a few months, and it's always nice to hear them again.

I thought you'd be listening to the new Meatloaf album, Robert. I heard one track and it wasn't very good.

So you are listening to something much better in those Matt Monro CDs.

Have you outgrown Frances Langford? I haven't seen you mention her in months.

Paul, I haven't played Frances Langford for a while, but I did mention her in one of the fun and games last week :)

I do not buy any more Meat Loaf albums (notice the spelling  ) .........he does not sound as good now as he was in his younger days......his music was especially good when Jim Steinman wrote songs for him early on in his career. I bought Meat Loafs first seven or eight albums though, then eventually all the albums on CD ...........Bat Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell 2, Deadringer, Bad Attitude, Blind Before I Stop, Midnight at the Lost and Found and Welcome to the Neighbourhood.............his earlier material is immense :)

Paul or Eman, was Meat Loaf "big" in the states ? .............he was massive in the UK and Europe but I don't think he got as much recognition in the US.

Listening to Roy Orbison tonight :)

He was pretty big, but not massive. His albums did well on the charts. Two out of Three Ain't Bad peaked at #11 and was a million seller. That later song, I Won't Do That (think that was the title, it hasn't aged well) was top 10 I believe.

Played Olivia's Gaia cd tonight hadn't heard it for years, the songs are all self penned, some are pretty good.

Robert, yeah Meat Loaf was pretty big in the late 70's with the Bat Out Of Hell lp. I think the song you're thinking of Paul was "I Would Do Anything For You" from the early 90's. I think the public got all Jim Steinman'ed out. You had people like Air Supply, Bonnie Tyler and Screamline Dion recording his songs.

Yes, that was the song Eman. But I think the final word was love, not you. I was definitely Jim Steinman'ed out. I don't think I was every that "in".

Bonnie Tyler only recorded the album of Jim Steinman songs because Jim and Meat had a falling out  ............I would have liked to have heard Meats take on Faster Than the Speed of Night :)

Thanks Paul and Robert. It seems everytime I turned on the radio there was a Jim Steinman epic on every other station if not that a Bryan Adams ( who I just love also) song or Extreme's More Than Words! Thank goodness there was EMF or Jesus Jones to counter it out!!

Listening to "Glen Campbell Live In Japan" from 1975. It was just released in the US for the first time in January. I had the album as an import, but it got lost during so many moves. It's good to hear it again. The packaging is ace as it's a mini-replica of the gatefold album sleeve.
