Listening to our usual Sunday morning programme. Dewi Griffiths playing songs from some of those great movies. This one from the 1942, movie "Now Voyager with Bette Davis and Paul Henreid, and that famous line...
" Oh Jerry don't let's ask ask for the moon, we have the stars," and then background music striking up with one of our all time favourite songs It Can't Be "Wrong" .. Still takes my breath away.
Dewi played Vera Lynn's lovely version today, and we can't wait to hear Matt singing this on the forthcoming CD. :) :)

Hey Karl, the only thing I know of Frank Stallone was the few cuts he did for the "Stayin' Alive" soundtrack which was the sequel to "Saturday Night Fever". His big hit was "Far From Over", other than that I don't know if he ever released anything else. If you like him, check out the vocalist from Sergio Mendes' group named "Joe Pizzulo". He was the male vocalist on 1983's "Never Gonna Give You Up".

Since the Motown show on Saturday the dj's on radio 2 are playing alot of Motown records, coincidence or what?
Anyway, I am in a nostalgic mood so I dug out two cd's I haven't played in awhile, at the moment I am listening to Here Come The Tremeloes Complete 1967 Sessions and would you believe it there's a Motown song on there called Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever. I really like The Tremeloes and have several of their cd's - the other cd I pulled out is Marmalade's Definitive Collection.

Karl, I love all incarnations of Marmalade. I guess my favourite songs of theirs would have to be "Lovin' Things" which the American band The Grass Roots (one of my childhood faves) covered and "Fallin' Apart At The Seams".

On Ken Bruce yesterday 'The tracks of my years' near the end of the show were chosen by someone called Gary Osborne, a song writer. His father was Tony Osborne a music director and his uncle I think was Norman Newell.
He told the story of at a party his uncle had to pop out and write a song.He returned to the party two hours later having written it.
That song was of course Portrait Of My Love which they then played.
That set Gary on the road to becoming a song writer thinking if it is that easy-------

I have my Ipod on shuffle..so it's playing Whitney Houston's Didn't We Almost Have It All. I've been reuploading stuff to it and I'm only on 6,878 songs. I'm trying to see if I can get to the 10,000 that I had before it crashed. I'll try to exceed that by seeing how many songs it can hold max. Suppose to be 20,000. Oops Whitney just finished and now it's The Scissor Sisters, I Don't Feel Like Dancin'.
