Chopin, prelude in E minor........... very calming. :)

Prior to that a bit ago, Paolo Conti, and Dina Washington, and this morning, Matt Monro's Ultimate collection.

The Carpenters - Horizon
Karen's voice is unforgettable even on the lesser-known songs.

I have been listening to a new cd---Art Garfunkel--"Some Enchanted Evening"---I have all the recordings by Simon and Garfunkel, plus all of Art's solo Cd's [none of Paul Simon]--but this cd is very different to any of those--but I really like it.

And to my surprise-in the cover notes, Art writes..

"In this album, I confess I am under the sway of two magnificent singers, Chet Baker, and Johnny Mathis ".

While Chet's singing is an acquired taste at best, I must say Art should aspire to the phrasing and vocal flourishes of the magnificent Mathis. His Misty & Maria are two of his interpretations that remain unrivalled.

Yes I have Marian, but Matt is my favourite singer, so his version of "Maria" is my favourite version of the song  but the JM version is great too

Hi Terence, Horizon by the Carpenters is one of my favourite albums of theirs, especially I'm Caught Between Goodbye And I love You and Love Me For What I Am. :)

Hi John

Those 2 obscure songs you named are just great!

Heard them for the first time yesterday. Actually I prefer their non-hits as their hits have been played to death. Most of their compilations contain the same songs so I tend to seek out the actual albums to appreciate the theme.

I am going for Passage .....but it is only available in Japan now.

Yes Terence that is true--so many compilations -all with a different name, but the same songs over and over--I'm sure there are many unreleased recordings of Karen---just look at the last cd "As Time Goes By"--fabulous album.
