Just listening to Strangeland (the bonus track now). It has a melancholy feel, not sure if that makes it a ballad. Still not wild about it.

Listened to Hopes And Fears last week for the first time in ages. Still like all the songs on there. I remember standing in HMV and hearing the opening drumbeats to Untitled 1, when I'd never heard of Keane, and thinking how great it was. That was what made me buy the album. The tracks I prefer are We Might As Well Be Strangers, She Has No Time, Untitled 1, Snowed Under, Sunshine.

Paul, I believe you are right about Fun and Gotye. They are just big for this graduation/summer season, but like you I don't think they will have any lasting power. The albums are just ok for me though, but I think Bon Iver may have a chance of being around.

I downloaded "Somebody that I used to know" by Gotye, as I really liked it-not sure of I could listen to a whole album from him.

By the way--does anyone know what happpened to Myka--he seems to have vanished from the airwaves .

Yes it is. This solo album is very sparse, but sounds good after one listen.

Mike, I went to Amazon to listen to snippets of each song from the album...........as usual when you listen to a new album all the songs sound the same, and this one is no exception  ...........as you say Mike, the backing seems very sparse, but I know all of Paul Buchanan's songs are real growers :) .................but saying that, their last CD (I think it was) ......... Free at Last - was not as good as their two previous albums...............Paul Buchanan is now 56 years old, but sounds just the same :)

One of George's favourites ever was called "Roses from the South" by James Last---all Johan Strauss---lovely relaxing music, like all in the Jmaes Last "Classical Collection"

Northern Soul 2 played this morning during ironing, it's a new release.

I have that James Last cd Marian, one of many by him. On another cd
his version of Sonny & Cher's I Got You Babe is brilliant!

Blue Nile's first two albums are regarded as classics, but the next two aren't popular. But one of their latter albums - High - is great.

I would say that as the arrangements on Mid Air are all very similar, the tracks do sound samey. If it is any help you can give it a try on Spotify.

Ray Conniff's Concert In Stereo which brings back wonderful memories of the night I saw him in concert.

It was a bitterly cold night, I had my ticket and wanted ages for a bus, I though to myself if it doesn't come soon I'm going back home. I am so glad I did not as the show was magnificent. The Usher Hall was half full but boy did we make up for the lack of audience!

Ray had as a guest Skeets Herfurt, and the two just bounced off each othe rnusically and had a mutual admiration for each other.

The singers were absotely brilliant and after a few songs they would re-group and that was very cleverly done.

At the end Ray invited everyone down to the stage to meet him, how I wish I had gone but being such a cold night I just wanted to get home.

I never got the chance to see him in concert again, just like The Bee Gees but I will never forget their shows.
